Hello,

I stopped by the board to kind of lurk around and thought I would join. I am a pre-op and I am 36 will be 37 December the 4th and wanted to get to know other people that are in my age group that have had or is going to have WLS. I am also interested in making any new friends. I already have a couple that I write to, but I see it this way, one can never have too many friends. I would especially appreciate friends from TN but even if you're from Canada I am looking forward to getting to know you!

I'm not fat, I'm just wearing my parent's fat jeans (genes). I plan to pull 'em off and put 'em in the dryer and shrink 'em up soon

Welcome, Diane!  I'm pretty new, too, and it's great to see people joining all the time.  It's a constant reminder that I'm not in this thing alone, even though I feel that way quite often. I'm in northern GA, 10 mins from Chattanooga, TN... So Hey Neighbor! The 30 something board has a great bunch of people on it... I'm sure you're going to enjoy it here and feel right at home... Just wanted to say Welcome and it's good to see ya!

Hi Diane!

I'm almost 35 and 3.5 months post-op.  I've lost a total of 83 pounds since about 3 weeks before surgery in July. I can't tell you what a wonderful experience this has been for me. I don't regret it for a minute!

My only advice to others about WLS is to make the commitment to yourself, before you are ever approved for the surgery. Commit to yourself that no matter what it takes, you'll do what you have to do to be happy and healthy. This surgery can fix your body, but it wont fix your head. Surround yourself with possitivity, make the commitment to yourself, for yourself in advance and prepare as much as possible for profound lifestyle changes as well as emotional ones. Make as many adjustments to your lifestyle as you can prior to surgery, so that you can focus on the big ticket items after surgery and wont have the little things to struggle with as well.  Good luck Diane and I'm glad you posted here. I'm looking forward to getting to know you more. Oh, I'm in NC just to your east, but I am way on the eastern side of NC about an hour from the ocean.  Take care hon!
