Hi,     It's been a long time since I have posted anything on OH. I began to think I had this whole thing figured out...for the record...I don't.  I am about 9 months post-op. I had RNY this past January. I have lost just over 100 lbs but now seem o be stuck. Is this normal? Is it a plateau that will pass or should I be freaking out? I can not be done losing. I still have quite a ways to go to get to  my goal.    My other question is...how long do most people wait to do platic surgery? I was hoping for this coming summer. Is that too soon?  If anyone has any words of wisdom I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you sooo much!  Kier

I am pre-op and can not offer any advice to your questions.

But, I wanted to say hi and congrats on what you have lost thus far. 100lbs that is wonderful!

Best wishes

God Bless, Angela

You know.....I got stuck around 9 months out (I'm 11 months out now).  For me, a lot of it was complacency with what I was doing.  I wasn't being nearly as strict with getting in the protein, counting my calories, limiting my carbs, exercising, etc.   My surgeon recommends that when we hit these little bumps in the road that we go back to the full liquid diet for a week to jump start our weight loss again.  It's a reminder of where we were, how far we've come and what it takes to keep going.   And what do you know...it worked!  I started losing again!

I'm not sure about the plastic surgery question.  From what I've heard from my bariatric surgeon and from a plastic surgeon that spoke at a support group meeting....they recommend waiting six months after you've lost all your weight.   But my guess is that like all bariatric surgeons, all plastic surgeons are different too.  All I know is that I'm already saving for my tummy tuck, boob job, arm job, leg job, etc, etc, etc......LOL.

Hi Chrs,    Thank you so much for your rsponse. I probably have not been as strict as I once was. The full liquid diet is a good idea. I think I will try that next week. I scheduled a consultation with a plastic surgeon for the end of January, just to ask questions. That will be one year from my surgery. I don't expect to have it done anytime soon. I just thought, it would be good to get some details and start planning. Congrqtulations on your accomplishments.  Kier

Whatever you do, avoid any drinks with sugar in them, or a lot of liquid carbs.  After RNY, it all gets dumped immediately into the blood stream, which spikes insulin.  Insulin stops weight loss.
