Which surgery did you have?
Trying to get this board going a little more here... LOL Which surgery did you have, or are you researching, and what are a few things you have enjoyed about your journey? Me - I am pre-op and have 2 months left to wait on an insurance change. I have been researching all of the WLS's, primarily LapBand, RNY, and DS. No decision yet as I have to wait and see what the insurance covers and doesn't. But, I am thankful MN has very good bariatric surgeons and plenty to choose from, so that is a bonus. How about you?
My intentions is to have the RNY (lap). I am also pre-op, and working on the insurance weight loss plan. I have to have 3 months of this. Next week will be my 2nd month visit so one more to go.
I choose the RNY because I have more weight to loose. With the lapband the lose is slower. For me it just seems like the better option. You are right MN does have lots of great options for surgeons. Good luck on your decisions! Take Care
Hi,
I had the RNY on August 6. It was really the only surgery that I considered doing, and so far am very pleased! I have lost 51 lbs post op, coupled with 26 pre-op for a total of 77 lbs. Pretty happy with that! :)
I am happy I am finally to the point where I am getting all of my protein and water in..it took a while :)

I had Lap. RNY gastric bypass. It was the best choice for me given my high starting weight and I've never regretted my decision. There was a time that I had considered the lap band but given my high starting weight, it was not a good option. Plus, without the benefit of the dumping syndrome to keep me from eating sugar and fatty foods....I'd still eat those foods with the band. I consider dumping syndrome to be positive reinforcement!!
What have I enjoyed about this journey? Well....losing 175 pounds has been pretty fantastic! Being able to fit into restaurant booths again. Walking as long as I want. Not being stared at. Not being made fun of. Feeling more normal. Having a social life again. I think it's all the little 'wow' moments that make it so much fun. Like finding that I had to re-adjust the seats in my car one day. Or that I actually weighed less than it said on my driver's license for the first time in 20 years! Feeling collar bones again or having someone tell me that my shoulders are 'boney' when they rubbed them. It just keeps getting better and better!
