OT: Shoes

Going for your thoughts here... Do you choose shoes based on style or comfort? A guy in the fashion industry here in Mpls. said in an article yesterday that while he was at a fashion show, he asked a lady why in the world she was wearing the shoes she was and her reply was "they are comfy". His twist on it was humorous, but basically it got me thinking. I am probably a victim of the comfy shoe purchase vs. fashion statement based on the fact that I'm MO and I would twist my ankle walking in anything higher than 1/2" heel. Not to mention the typical winter weather...how fashionable can you make Sorel boots?! But, I have to be honest, I do look forward to the day I am "Normal" and I can wear stylish shoes with some heel...maybe a pair of 5" stiletto's for date night with DH?! LOL Chime in everyone!

I'm short in comparison to my husband. I'm 5' 4.75". He's 6' 4.5". As a result even MO, I wore 3.5"+ heels every day. I'm definitely a fashion statement girl. Even living in MI most of my life, I would wear 3.5" heels without socks year around. Total slave to the look. I actually am more likely to wear flats now that I'm not MO. I don't feel like I always have to be dressed up anymore. When I was fat, if I wasn't dressed nicely, makeup on, etc. I was worried people would think of me as the fat slob stereotype. When your skinny, people don't even notice what you're wearing as long as you're covered.

I'm all about the shoe looking good.  If it looked good and comfy that is a bonus. (but that rarely happens) I do not wear much of a heel but, I try for a little one.  Stilettos not sure if I will ever be ready for those.

I believe I need to get more into this as part of my wardrobe. It does make or break an outfit I've noticed. I'm glad I read that article, it has really made me think about it. Thanks for sharing Angela! I don't think I'll ever be ready for stilettos either, but maybe out for a dinner date with DH if we can park close. LOL

It depends on where I'm going for me.  If I'm going to church or something where I won't be doing a lot of standing, I go for style.  But if I'm hanging out or shopping, my tennie's win every time!  It doesn't help, either, my precious husband always tells me to "dress for comfort!"  He encourages me to wear tennis shoes everywhere (guess he got tired of listening to me gripe about my feet hurting)! So I guess it's comfort for me, too...

Our hubby's sound like 2 peas in a pod. Mine wears the same comfortable shoes all the time. Granted they are nice Doc Marten's, but still...he never changes it up. LOL Maybe that is why he thinks I have SO many pairs...actually I do admit I have a bit of a sandal feti****hink that I would love to have more options for stylish shoes vs. my 1 main pair of Merrell's, though.

I'm glad to be at a weight where I actually have a choice! It used to be flat, comfy and not that stylish. NOW...stand back. This will be my first winter with the new shoes fetish and I'm worried I might not fair so well in SNOW in hot heels! LOL I'll keep you posted. I'm about to take pics of my newest shoes and post on my profile. I CANNOT STOP! LOL
