I am 36 with three kids ages 1, 5 and 6.  GOOD QUESTION!!!  I'd like to know about bouncing back, too.  Good luck to you.

RNY on 08/14/07 with
Hi Girls and Welcome!!! I am 33 and had RNY on Aug 14. I have bounced back pretty ok knock on wood.  I took only 2 weeks off from work and while I think I should have taken 1 more week off, I was still allright, just felt tired.   My biggest key to recovering was that I walked as soon as I could in the hospital, did many rounds around the flloor and around the house once I was home. Its a big help in the first few weeks! The problems I faced  were: - Back pain for 2 weeks (they couldnt determine why even after a CAT scan but its gone away basically) - Straining/pain at the incisions for about 2 weeks  - The usual WLS tummy troubles that take a bit more time but are manageable with water, eating enough fiber and avoiding foods that aggravate and of course, walking. My scars have healed fine, they are pretty dry now and I just bought a Vitamin E syrum to try and minimize them per the advice of my doctor.  I still get tired pretty early in the evening but thats probably my body adjusting to less calories and lack of caffeine!:-) I have a 1.5  yr old son who weights about 29 lbs and I was not allowed to lift him until the doctor cleared me to be able to do so this week at 4 weeks. I am also now clear to do whatever I want at the gym, start hand weights etc. Also, I travel for work so my doctor has said that I can do so after 6-8 weeks from surgery.  I hope that helps! I tried to share as much detail as I could! Maya
