My first Pre-Op Test
I just had to post my good news today. I am finally on my way to a new me. Ever since my first appointment with my surgeon, I have changed my diet and just by cutting soda out of my life, I have lost 10 lbs and one dress size in 25 days. I can't believe how much better I feel just from cutting soda out. Bye, bye soda, hello Crystal Light. I can't live with Crystal Light. I also had my first preop test today (Sonogram of my abdomen) and I also had my blood work done. I was a little concerned because the technician who did my sonogram continuously asked me if I had anything to eat or drink and I told her that the last time that I ate was 10 hours prior to the sonogram so it had me a little worried that she might have noticed something during the sonogram. However, I am just going to pray and hope that she was just asking the questions to be cautious.

Thanks so much Maya. I hope that you are right about the technician.
Congrats on your weight loss as well. I noticed underneath your name that you had surgery less than 3 weeks ago. So how are you feeling? I have two friends that have had Roux en Y , 1 friend whose doctor just sent her paperwork into her insurance company and she is waiting approval and one friend who just had the Lap Band done on June 4, 2007. I am trying to ask all of my friends who are in different stages how they are feeling. So how are you feeling?

Hi Kimberly,
Thanks! Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, it was my week back to work last week and it was kind of crazy.
I am feeling fine actually knock on wood. I did have back pain for 2 weeks and had to have a CAT scan (still havent seen the results so hope its normal). And of course, I had a bit of internal abdominal pain the first two weeks but now, my scars are healing slowly and sometimes they ache a bit, but besides some fatigure every day, I feel like myself. The thing I will recommend to anyone who has RNY is to start walking around as soon as you can in the hospital and at home. Even go out for daily walks outside if you dont feel too much pain ( I had to stop due to back pain for a few days). But at the least, walk around in your house every single day and do some mild household activities. This is the quickest way to spring back. If you tell your body that its on its way to normal, it does follow. I also did that after my caesarian. A bit of pain and healing is in the mind.
Best of luck to you, you will do great!

Maya, congrats to you on having the surgery. I am hoping to have Lap Band surgery. I am a member of Curves and do to my work schedule I have not been able to go the entire summer although I have kept my weight off without going. With school resuming again (I work in a College admissions office and we've finally finished the paperwork for the students who are starting this month) now, I should be able to leave work on time again and go to Curves at least 4 evenings a week. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Hopefully it won't be too hard to get my butt back in gear! LOL.
All the best to you as you continue to mend post-surgery. I trust that the CAT scan results will come back fine.
Best,
Kimberly
congrats to both of you. on your pre-op weight loss and your after surgery loss.
I have really been watching what I consume also. No soda for the last two months. ( I thought I would go crazy for the first couple weeks!!) But i'm over it now. and don't really even crave it anymore. Now that I am schedueled for the surgery I am glad I held out. lol

Hi Francine,
Thanks so much for your vote of confidence! I have lost another 4 lbs since I sent this email for a total of 13 lbs in 1 month just from cutting out soda! I am so excited! Good luck to you as your big day approaches. Are you having Roux en Y or Lap Band? I am hoping to have the Lap Band.
Kimberly
PS: Don't you feel so much better since you've stopped drinking soda. I have so much more energy and my skin is crystal clear lately! LOL
I will pray that your lab tests are fine and hopefully by the time that you read this, you will be 11 days closer to your RNY. I often wonder the same thing about soda since I drank it every day for 17 years straight.
As for your lab tests; Think positively, the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter and your surgery is drawing near. You will be fine.!!!!!!!!!!!!!
