Investigating surgery options, !st meeting on Tuesday
On August 28th I am going to my first informational meeting with the Bariatric program in Corvallis, Oregon. I have alot of weight to loose and health issues to hopefully get better. I am nervous but very excited about learning about their program. The more I read on this site the more I want WLS surgery.
I don't know anyone personally that has gone through WLS so I am hoping to get to know some people through this site that can help me through this. I wish all of you the best of luck with your own success with this life changing events.
How did your seminar go? I hope you learned a lot. You probably still have a lot of questions. Try going to all of the forums here to research all of the different kinds of surgeries before you make a decision.
You say you have a lot of weight to lose. I'm not sure what your bmi is, but don't forget to look into the duodenal switch while you are researching. If you are like many people, you may not even know it exists. My surgeon recommends the DS for bmi's of 50 and up. Other surgeons are doing it on people of lesser bmi's.
I personally have met someone that has had the DS. I haven't met any rny'ers or banders, but there are great success stories here on OH with all of the surgeries.
Good luck!!
