Hello Everyone!!  I am new here but wanted to ask a couple of questions... I am having a difficult time with the pre-op diet------ headaches from no caffeine, severe cravings for breads and sweets, and major weakness and fatigue!!   Then i give in and have to start all over again.  I have done all my pre-op testing and am now waiting for insurance approval but i am wondering if i can do this surgery if i cant get the pre-op diet going correctly.  Can anyone give me tips or please tell me how long the "withdrawal" lasts?  I think maybe if i had a date it would motivate me but the waiting is horrible too! Any advice here would be helpful!! Thanks in advance for helping me.

just stay strong and do the best u can do. if we could diet succesfully we would'nt be in this position in the first place ;)  i think it would help u if u had a date to, not knowing sucks.  i ended up losing 30# pre-op which even surprised me :)  kuz i didnt eggzactly do the best i couldv done. in other words i cheated to ,shhhhhhhhhh- dont tell nobody    .    u wait til u hav to do 3 days of only clear liquids jus b4 surgery, thats kinda tuff, and then anthr 7days of it to after surgery. but atleast after surgery u really dont feel like eating {if ur having rny}. i was unfortunate,ul hav to read my profile........ but im still healing, i hav a leak and hav been thru total hell. but i know its only a bump in the road and itl be worth it in the end. i was on "water only" for almost 2 months {no food at all}.  hang in there kiddo, ul do just fine.

The pre-op diet sucks, there are no ifs or ands about it. The best tip I can give you is to think about it this way. Since you are waiting for insurance approval remember the insurance company and doctors are not just looking at just  the numbers now, they are also looking at your level of committment. WLS is a life-long process. Show them how committed you are.
When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
All the best,
Shawn
