Too Hot to Trot

Too Hot to Trot... Too Hot to Walk...Too Hot to Exercise.... Too Lazy to Exercise!!!!!!!! In general, I hate to exercise. The only exercise I really like at all is walking outside. But I won't walk IF it is over 90 degrees! When it hit above 90, I quit walking all together. I live in Phoenix. It's going to be from 105 to 115 Degrees for the next 4 months.  I'm a hard-core night owl so I won't walk before work and I don't want to go after sun down. I haven't exercised in several weeks. I really want to incorporate exercise in my life but I think I hate to move more than a turtle on Nyquil.

I think if I don't exercise my weight loss is going to slow down and I'll be all flabby if I ever do reach a healthier weight.

I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE to Exxxxxxxxxercise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comments? Empathy? Sympathy? Suggestions?

:bed:  I do enjoy sleeping in and eating... Is that exercise?

If you do leg lifts in your sleep and a crunch between bites...MAYbe. ;) Videos at home in your living room in the a/c! Get some cardio dance stuff and act a fool. Even if you don't hit every step, WHO CARES, you're moving!!! You never know, you might like one of them! Get some soup cans,  laundry detergent and/or water bottles and do arm lifts while you watch TV. Grab a cheap pair of exercise bands (I LOVE TJMaxx/Ross for this stuff) and workout your legs while you pay bills or ... watch TV :) Get creative and remember the little stuff too. Parking at the end of the lot and walking, taking the stairs...WALK THE MALL!! Ohhhh FUN! Put on comfy shoes and walk the mall!!!!! In retrospect...I sound like Susan Powter with a dash of Richard Simmons. SCARY!

I have to say I'm with you on not being excited about exercise, but I've found it easier lately now that I've lost some weight.  I've also found it more enjoyable than I ever thought.  Also, make sure that you're looking at all of your potential exercise options.  For example, when it's hot, I enjoy swimming (great exercise).  AZ has lots of indoor exercises, and if you still don't like it, at least do the exercises that burn the most calories in the least amount of time (i.e. swimming laps or an elliptical machine).  I am re-discovering weight/resistance training which doesn't feel as much like exercise as running a marathon, but still gets my heart pumping. --Dave

Ok - I'm checking in - what did you decide? What have you been doing to move? Hot, inquiring minds want to know :)

I love the water arobics that we get at the local pool and it is included in the summer family pass that I buy for the family. The only thing I am out is the gas to go to town. I also try to put on a favorite tv show and ride the gazelle for 15 -30 mins. The time goes by lots faster when I get into a good show. I may not work as hard as if I am watching the video that came with it but at least I am up moving some. I am with you though walking has to be my favorite, but kind of scary right now with harvest going on, the trucks drive like maniacs down the country roads.
