hey y'all!
So excited to find this board. here is my random introduction
.i am new to this process..i am 32, married with a 2 yo son..i have pcos...currently my husband and i are in discussions over whether or not to have one more child THEN the WLS or have the surgery and then another child..it is back in forth..i am ready to do it NOW but just excited he is supportive and finally realizing i really intend on doing this..
i am 5'3", 265-270..so that puts me at a BMI of about 47 i think..WOW it is time!
have many of you had the VSG..i was interested in lapband, then RNY but more and more i think the VSG is for me (after lurking on both boards)..i would love to find a good surgeon in houston, texas..not wanting to do the mexico thing..thanks for any info on that... i am self pay;(
Again, so excited to meet some people my age;;
Blessings on your journeys!
Holly
Holly Welcome and good luck to you on your wls journey.
I personally love that I had RNY but then again I don't know much about VSG so it could be just as great. Anyway, best of luck to you and let us know what you decide.
Oh one more thing to add...I ran into a coworker last week who had the RNY a couple of years ago and she just had a baby. Well she said she wished she would have waited on the surgery, have her baby and then do it. So I guess it just depends on you & your hubby.

Hi Shabbymum,
Hows it going neighbor. I too am 32 till next week and have a 2 year old daughter. I had the DS which is the VSG with the Duodenal switched. So good luck with your surgery. If you are looking for a good surgen in Houston I would check with Dr. Adam Naaman He is Certified Surgen of Excellence, Head of Surgery for the hospital he is in, and the Hospital is Center of Excellence. So most insurance that cover wls will let you use him. He is amazing and I wouldn't trust my life or anyone that I love lives with anyone else. Good luck and much success.
Glad to see you out on the boards. I was on the boards quite a bit before I finally made the decision to do RNY just over 2 months ago. It was a tough decision for me to have surgery, but so far I have been very happy with the results, and my overall decision to do RNY. DS isn't covered by my insurance, but I reviewed carefully RNY, Lap band, and gastric sleve (also not covered by insurance). I ended up going with RNY primarily due to the longer medical history/track record compared to various other procedures out there. I wish you the best in your decision process, and feel free to ask more questions if you have them. Don't forget the discussion boards are here as you prepare and get closer to an actual surgery date!
