Last night I went to my support group. One of the leaders had GB 6-7 weeks ago. Since I began the process with them (June 06) she has been thinking and talking about it. She missed the last meeting and then last night revealed her good news.

She made a comment ... she said before she had surgery she REALLY felt as though she knew what we were going through. Now, she sees it in a whole new light.

Question: What did you "see" after surgery that you really thought you had a handle on before???

I have always been a positive person, glass half full, Pollyanna blah blah blah my whole life.  Even when I was MO I was happy...........I thought, good job, nice family, nice husband etc..  Normal ups and downs, my weight was always an issue and something I thought about.  So I thought after surgery my health would be changed, improved.   I read so much, did so much research and always shrugged at postops who said the dynamics of their relationships changed, that they felt so different apart from the physical transformation were treated different at work, family, their partner etc.  I feel I was ready for surgery but I was not ready for that aspect of the changes..........ITS HUGE!!  I totally underestimated it.  It has changed in every way with everybody, change isn't a bad thing don't get me wrong but its still change... Another surprise is the joy I feel, I thought I was happy before , now I KNOW I'm happy. Carola
