Guys, I'm REALLY struggling with not drinking a little bit during meals. Drinking with food is like the Cardinal Sin for Banders. What the BEEP is my problem?! I always seem to break down and have a sip or two when I'm eating and then I want liquid before the 30 min window after eating.

By the way, I have NO problem getting 8 glasses of water a day. I'm a guzzler!! Please, give me advice. What is my problem! -Jenn C in AZ

p.s. Nervous about my 1st Fill tomorrow.

I too struggle with this one - I don't put any drink near me when I eat so I'm not tempted to drink.  I also use a timer to let me know when I can drink again after I eat. It is a challenge but I think with time it will become second nature.  Good Luck!

Good Luck on your FILL!!  I had an open RNY so I don't know much about the lap band, but I know many people through this site who have had it and had amazing success!!   I thought I would have a problem with not drinking with meals but so far its been fine, advice that a post op gave me was to stick with things that had very low sodium and didn't need to be *washed down*.  I stick to lean meats, yogurt, protein bars and then I have a slice of pineapple, or an apple slice with peanut butter on it, a couple berries etc. something refreshing so I'm not so thirsty and then set my egg timer until I can have water again!!!  Hope this helps. It is help if you eat something that is not so dry and will make you thirsty although I know that is hard. I break this rule almost all the time. My Dr said that I can have at least a couple of sips with my food but to follow the rule otherwise.
