I AM WAITING TO HAVE WLS, MORE SPECIFICALLY THE GASTRIC BYPASS.  I TAKE KARATE AND WAS WONDERING IF  I WILL BE ABLE TO CONTINUE TO DO SO?  OR IS THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS PERTAINING TO MARTIAL ARTS. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP... ALANA

Congrats on your surgery! That *I* can think of (I'm just a girl not a doctor) I would think the only restrictions would be through your recovery period. I could be wrong. I was once before ;)

I started TaeKwonDo 6 weeks after surgery once my Dr released me.  You have to listen to your body though, things will still be tender, be careful of kicking and punching that you don't hurt yourself at your incision site or sites.  Otherwise it is a GREAT workout after WLS
