Khaliah Ali Awesome 30's Bander!
Hi, All- I was reading an article in "Cutting Edge" which is a sewing magazine for modern and hip designs. The cover story this month is about Khaliah Ali. She is a designer and the daughter of Muhammed Ali. Khaliah lost 180 lbs after lap band loss surgery. Khaliah designs beautiful plus size clothing for Simplicity patterns. Due to her empathy as a bander and obesity survivor, she designes every item to be wearable with a 20lbs gain or loss. Khaliah is a beautiful multi-cultural woman inside and out. I wish that every item she designed was wearable with a 20 lb gain. I made this really awesome shirt last spring, and I've probably gained less than 20 lbs and it doesn't fit nicely at all. I actually refuse to wear it, and it's such a nice shirt. *cries*
I have another one of her patterns to make a skirt, just gotta find it... I believe that it's in a box somewhere in the basement. Will make it when I find it though.... still have the fabric upstairs in my sewing room.
