One of the Dr.s here requires you attend one before they will even discuss your options with your or send any info of any kind to you. Another group of Dr.s here also have the forum but I didn't have to attend one before I saw them let alone start the prosses or have surgery.

Thank Dragonfly,

I am understanding about the seminars and meetings, I just want to get the meat of everything. Is it yes or no....But I am trying my best to be very patient

I had to attend a Community Meeting (Intro to Surgery) and a Support Group Meeting BEFORE they would even set an intro appointment with the surgeon. All programs have their hoops :)

I had to go to a seminar and get insurance approval before I could see the surgeon.  My insurance denied me 5 times so I ended up self pay and my mom helped me.  She had not gone to the seminar with me and was concerned, when I talked to the doc he said he would take the time during my appt to give her a mini seminar.  It was a great experience.  I would have wls again in a heartbeat.  Lots of Luck to ya.

I know what you mean about tryng to be patient. I even went a major round with one of the ladies at the office because of how streesed over it all I had become. I hope your get things where you want them to be soon and good luck on having surgery!

I contacted the 2 surgeon groups within an hour of my house and here is what they said: Group 1- 9mo wait list (after PCP referal is sent) then they will contact you to have you come in and go to Support group meeting, after attending that meeting they set up an all day series of appointments: nut, psych, and a group intro to one of the surgeons...then they shuffle their paperwork and get back to you with 2nd appt to meet your surgeon.   total time (after 9 mo wait ) is 4 mo Group 2- Go to info session, have pcp send referal, wait 2-3 wk for 1st met with surgeon then 1-3 mo wait for nut and psych...have to attend 3 support group meets before surgery will be scheduled. Total wait to surgery 5-6 mo. Very different styles and they are only 90 miles apart.

I had to attend a seminar, which my husband came with me.  I was kind of annoyed at having to go, as we both had to take off work, but it was so informative, I really appreciated it after I went.  I think he did, too, because it kind of put his mind at ease a little.
