Ready to make a change
Hello All,
I am 33 and currently researching the Lap-Band procedure. Can you all tell me what were your feelings before you decided this is what you wanted to do?
I want to do this but I fear not being able to learn to eat again. I am Puerto Rican and the foods I eat are not on the list of foods to eat after surgery.
Hi there!
I will be 34 in 2 weeks. I did not have the lap-band so I can't give you any real information about this. But what I can tell you is that this forum, OH, is filled will very valuable info, have you posted on the lap band board? They will be able to help you out more.
I had lap rny and I've lost 55 lbs since Jan 3rd. The lap band was not the best choice for me. Have you discussed all your options with your doctor?
Good luck in your quest for knowledge and in making the correct decision for you. This journey is so worth it!!
*hugss & good luck!*

Hello...nice to meet you.
I am also 34 and pre-op. However, I am going to have teh DS procedure done. For me, it seems to be the wisest choice. I work in a lab, and I guess some of the tihings I have seen have made me skittish to having a foreign object in my body, so the band was not an option for me. I do however know many people who have had both success and issues with it.
Since I have been "cruising" all of the various boards on OH and other sites, the ONLY procedure that I have not found ANYONE to have complaints is the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. Unfortuanately for me, my insurance will not cover that surgery so I am going with a DS.
Good luck with your quest and please do you homework and be thoroughly informed when making your decision.
