Hi all,  I have been on the board for a short amount of time and just found this group.....YEAH!!!  I am 34 and in the process of the physician monitored 6 month diet required by Highmark BCBS.  I have been to Dr. Anthone's seminar for DS and plan to have the surgery completed by my 35th birthday.  I look forward to getting to know all of you.  Nice to meet you.

Welcome!!! Looking forward to hearing all about your journey. I don't know a great deal about DS so anything you share would be great!!! :)

Welcome to the 30's. I'm new myself. If it weren't for Peggy's post on the main RNY board, I would have never known this form existed, so..... thanks Peggy!!!! I'm still major pre-op. I have two different referrals in to 3 different surgeons (2 of which work in the same office). My first referral went in last November, and my 2nd referral went in last month. I'm 33, married for almost 7 months (YAY!!!!), I have 5 pets.... 1 cat, 2 guinea pigs, and 2 birds, I love knitting with my knifty knitter (everyone's getting hats this year for Christmas), love to cook, am trying out scrapbooking, cake decorating, and driving my hubby crazy (in a good way of course). I'm also a type 1 diabetic on very very high doses of insulin and I take 5 shots a day. *sigh* Oh.... I also live in Canada where we have wait lists for surgery that are 3-4 years long for some doctors, and other doctors only have a wait list of 1-2 years. I hope that the time flies by on your 6-month requirement! :-) Lori

A year ago I would've marched into a surgeon's office and said do this.... I'll pay you cash NOW!!!! Unfortunately, that's no longer the case for me. I have to wait until I'm probably on my deathbed before they'll do anything. Not too happy about it, but there really isn't anything that I can do to help speed up the process. I always thought that the more co-morbidities you had the sooner the surgeon would want to get you in. I have 3 co-mo's.... I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and I'm a diabetic. Impatiently waiting my turn, Lori

The Gasp is that I will be 30 in 5 mnts.  picking myself up off the floor now.  I think that this is the only place I am comfortable giving info like that.  Age, weight, and pants size are usually taboo, it's nice that I can share that here.  Collette

Hello All,

I am new to this whole site as of this week. And I just found th 30's forum a few minutes ago.

I agree that this a place where we can exhale and be truthful of who we are today.

I am going in for a consultation on Monday 03/05/07. I have Tricare Prime. I have read nothing but good things about them and their process.

I am 35 (36 this year) and have 6 wonderful children and a loving husband of 12 years and climbing. He is totally supportive of this decision of mine. I was so happy and when I found out that my insurance covers the surgery I could've fainted.

Love all of yah
