OT: Your 80's theme song...
Hi Peggy,
I am fairly new around here but firstly wanted to say thanks for having great ideas for discussions. I have been pretty much obsessed with being approved lately and like to read about other things too.
Anyway, my theme song would be "Dance Me To The End Of Love" by Leonard Cohen. Not sure if it it 80's or 70's but I love it. Not partyish or crazy but I love the lyrics and feel it really says something abut the real "inside" me. It was also our wedding song.
Corn ball but true.
How about you?
What's yours?
Alison
Believe it or not only one stands out for me...and it is a weird one...for me...I spent a great deal of time surrounded by live music in the 80's and you would think I would pick something "deeper" but this song always made me happy and hit the floor...it was also a very special song to a friend that passed away during the 80s...maybe I drank too much schnaps! ;)
Dancing in Heaven by Q-Feel
(Are you Ready? Here We Go)
Slow-Slow- Quick Quick Slow
Slow-Slow- Quick Quick Slow
Countdown Its getting to the flight time
Night stars are shining in my eyes
My shoes are going to be the first ones
To dance deep up in the Skys
Dancing in Heaven I never thought I could get my feet this far
(Orbital Be-Bop)
Dancing in Heaven I never thought I could get my feet this far
(Orbital Be-Bop)
(Kick it out)
Slow-Slow- Quick Quick Slow
Slow-Slow- Quick Quick Slow
I'll be the first to Bassa Nova
Ten thousand miles above my legs
You dear, my lady on the Radar
I'll bring a child to Outer Space
Dancing in Heaven I never thought I could get my feet this far
(Orbital Be-Bop)
Dancing in Heaven I never thought I could get my feet this far
(Orbital Be-Bop)
Hey, Here I am
I hear the Universe Sing
The Celestial Scream
I am not alone
Are you receiving me clear
There is Others out here
Dancing in Heaven I never thought I could get my feet this far
(Orbital Be-Bop)

Peggy,
I don't know if I know that song. I really like unique music but can't say I can place the tune. I'll have to download it (legally of course) to hear it. That's really too bad to hear about your friend though. It's amazingly great how people can blend good and bad memories into a thing and still love it.
Your song and mine both have to do with dancing. Almost nothing's better!
I realized after sending my response and seeing yours that it would be a good idea to add the lyrics to my choice. So here it is...
"Dance Me To The End Of Love"
Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic 'til I'm gathered safely in
Lift me like an olive branch and be my homeward dove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Oh let me see your beauty when the witnesses are gone
Let me feel you moving like they do in Babylon
Show me slowly what I only know the limits of
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the wedding now, dance me on and on
Dance me very tenderly and dance me very long
We're both of us beneath our love, we're both of us above
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the children who are asking to be born
Dance me through the curtains that our kisses have outworn
Raise a tent of shelter now, though every thread is torn
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic till I'm gathered safely in
Touch me with your naked hand or touch me with your glove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Love it. Again, the whole idea about something being able to be amazingly wonderful but sadly nostalgic at the same time.

I'm new to this board - just found it. I remember your song. Wasn't there a movie - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun with Sarah Jessica Parker that used this song at the end during the dance competition?
Mine favorite 80's songs would have to be anything by Rick Springfield - I was a big fan then or "The Look of Love" by ABC.
