Just had WLS on Dec 13, 2006
Hi there! I had my Lap RNY on 11/16/06...so that is 6 1/2 weeks out. Only 2 days ago did I have ANY extra energy to do anything besides go to work!
I too was an active person before surgery - work 9 hour days as a dentist....played and walked my dogs....but after surgery the most I could do is walk 1-2 blocks!
I drink all of my water and eat 60g of protein and take the vitamins...but I was so tired after I returned home from work - all I could do i**** the Ergo chair and go to bed at 8pm.
I STILL am going to bed MUCH earlier than I ever had before. I consulted with my surgeon about this - he said that I had just had a MAJOR SURGERY and my body is just trying to adjust to the surgery, the decreased caloric intake, etc.
Hope this helps - you are not alone. Just imagine if you are having a problem - chances are that many of us others are having or had the same problem too!!
Congrats on the weight loss!
Hi Kristen! You and I had surgery on the same day. I too have been dragging, it is normal though. Even though you may not be feeling pain your body has been through something pretty major.
Grats on your 18 pound loss, that is awesome.
If you ever wanna chat or compare what we are going through send me a PM.
I had surgery 9 months ago and, yes, I too am exhausted. I had sleep apnea before surgery and when I didn't use the c-pap, I would be dozing off during the day. The sleep apnea disappeared after surgery but the exhaustion is still there. I have been working out regularly, more so, lately and I feel like I haven't had a good night's sleep. I thought that I was suppose to have more energy when I worked out but, it's not the case. Yesterday I was at the bank and when the teller asked me for my DL, I just kinda looked at him and wished that I was in bed, I shut my eyes and felt myself sleeping. The teller was staring at me when I opened my eyes. I smiled and very weakly told him that I was sleepy. He said that he thought that I was passing out.......So , I think that we have gone through drastic changes in our lives and bodies and it takes a while to get used to it.... I have lost over 90 lbs.
By the way I have not changed my DL and the young teller complimented me...I thought that he was flirting....how embarrasing
hi, i'm new to this board, i'm 6.5 weeks post LAP RNY and have also noticed that i've been going to bed earlier and don't have much energy especially after 2p.m. or so.
the weird thing is i've been waking up much earlier than pre-op and without an alarm clock (i've never been a morning person in the past and would sleep until noon if i didn't have to wake up to go to work). now i wake up at 7:30 every day w/no alarm. go figure
