Another newby...
Still waiting for a lap-band surgery date - hoping before October. Curious as to if many have had to opt for the reconstructive plastic surgeries to remove loose skin? They say everyone is different and that increased water intake really helps the skin with elasticity, but curious as to what I may be able to expect? I have right around 150 to lose. Guess I am happy to be getting this done now before my senior years... :)
Thanks in advance!
Carrie;
How well your skin rebounds depends on a lot of things. Your age at the time of your WLS, how long you've carried the extra weight, how much water your drink, how much exercise you get while you're losing, etc.
It's completely unpredictable. I'm 34 (was 33 at the time of WLS), had 102 lbs. to lose and had carried my weight for about 2 years. I started working out at 6 weeks post-op and have been pushing the fluids as much as I can since I was cleared on my swallow test at the hospital. I'm 3 lbs. from goal and don't have enough skin to bother with plastics.
You may have less skin issues due to chosing lapband. You'll lose slower with the band, so your skin will have a little more time to adjust.
Congrats on taking the first steps toward a healthier and happier life. Keep us posted on your journey.
Blessings,
Jennifer
