Protein Shakes
Montego;
There are several places online where you can get sample packs of protein shakes, however, I caution you against stocking up too much before surgery. Many of us become lactose intolerant or have changes in the tastes and textures that we find pleasing between pre-op and post-op.
I've got a great organic grocery really close to my house, so I've never ordered protein online, but I'm sure someone else will be able to refer you to some sites for samples. Also, my hospital sent me home with a big box of samples that got me through the first few weeks. This board can tend to be quiet, so if someone doesn't respond with an answer, post your question to the main board. I'm sure someone there will have a list.
Blessings,
Jennifer

Bariatric eating has a good sample package...you get 15 samples and a mixer bottle for $24.95. I've found that most of the sample's I've gotten I like....I didn't like the chocolate coconut one. That one sent me running to the bathroom. I do agree that you shouldn't stock up to much now because your tastes change sometimes. I used to love Kraft Mac and Cheese but can't stand the stuff now.

I know its a good recommendation not to stock up, but the hospital I am going through requires a 2 mos supply RECEIPT before surgery showing we purchased our protein shakes, and vitamins or else we can not have the surgery. SO I'm in the same boat as you Montego. What to get and where to get it!
I know i want to buy some samples to try out first and then buy the BULK containers!

Hi Montego,
I was asking the same question on another board and was told about bariatriceating.com and vitalady.com. Bariatriceating has the ultimate taster's pack that has several samples and comes with a shaker. I order it and it should arrive sometime this week. I paid a little over $30 including the shipping.

I got my sample pack about 2 weeks ago. So far, I love Nectar Roadside Lemonaide and Isofruit Cantaloupe Melon. Both of them mix in water easily and taste very refreshing. I have tried the New Whey tubes in Fruit Punch and Blue Raspberry. They are a little sweet for my liking so I dilute them in about 10 oz of water. I think I will really like these right after surgery because one 3 oz tube has 25 grams of protein. That will be a quick way of getting in my protein when I don't feel like eating. There are some other samples I plan to try when my new blender arrives. I tried a chocolate something mixed with a shaker but the powder didn't disolve well. I think those types would be better blended.
