Hi all, I'm new to the 20's board. My name is Sherry. I am 1/2 african american and 1/2 filipina, military brat My father recently retired from the Airforce after 28 years. I was born in the Philippines, and I've lived in AZ, Italy, LA, CA, OK, TX and the Philippines again for 5 years. I've been to Mexico and tons of other states. I am a mother of 2 and 3 year old girls. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors degree in Journalism and minor in Hispanic studies and I'm currently working on my Master's degree in Computer Information Systems through Strayer Univeristy online, as I also work fulltime, mon-fri for a company that develops and supports management information systems for insurance companies. Ohk here is my "story" I have always been a "chubby" kid. I think once I was 13 and got up to 165 pounds is when it started to get ridiculous to me. Once I graduated from high school I was 220 pounds. While at college, I lost 40 pounds in 3 months, I was 19 at the time and I worked out twice a day, and kept it off till the year 2000. Then, I started the depoprovera shot and I gained 35 pounds in 3 months, so by 2001 I was up to 215 pounds. Anyways, I gained a total of 85 pounds while on the deprovera shot and by the time I got off of it, it was 2001 and too late. I was stuck at 265 for a LONG time. When I got pregnant in 2002 of January, I was 285 pounds, I had my daughter, and was still 285 after I had her, LOL. I got pregnant when my 2nd daughter in June of 2004, I was 26 at the time, and I got up to 305 pounds when I had her. Then I got down to 270 and my pre-op weight was 289 at my dr. apt and 295 the night before I went in. I am currently 28 years old. So basically, I have put on 115 pounds in 5 years. I am 5'6" tall. Seems like I shrunk as I put on weight because for years I was supposably 5'8", LOL! I had my lap RNY on 4/17. I'm doing pretty good. I'm 8 days out and already able to eat baked chicken, low fat graham crackers and rice, eggs, fruits (watermelon, cantelope, strawberries), etc. Here is my concern. It looks like most people stay on liquids for WEEKS. I was put on soft foods (ie: eggs, pudding, cream of wheat) 3 days post op in the hospital. I am down 11 pounds and my question is this, has anyone else been able to eat like this so early on and still had successful weightloss? I wonder why some people have to stay on liquids so long, yet i'm able to eat softs already. I feel better now that I am able to eat softs because i'm not weak anymore, like I was on liquids/pureed. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Sherry 295/285/180
