One week out and new to this board!
I just wanted to say hello!
It's cool that there is a board for the younger crowd. I think that there are a lot of additional hurdles that we may face.
I'm originally from Marshall, TX. I'm 24 and currently in law school in San Antonio, TX. None of my classmates or friends know about my surgery. It's a small Catholic school, and I'm pretty sure most people would not be supportive. But I'm sure I'll get a lot of looks at the next keg party when I'm slowly sipping water!

Hi Kristin,
Welome to the loser's bench and to this board! Everyone here is so supportive and I'm sure you'll make some friends. I'm Lynn and I had lap RNY on August 16, 2005 and have lost 88 pounds so far. I didn't tell anyone at my school about the surgery either, but once I lost about 70 pounds, the questions started coming. Have you lost weight?-DUH! What diet are you doing?-Umm, Atkins? Are you exercising?-Of course! I got so tired of it all that I cracked and told a few people about the surgery and they were supportive. I still get comments from people there that I look so good and they can't believe that I've stuck to Atkins for so long, hehehe!

Wow Lynn! Your weight loss is amazing! I'm actually hoping to use the Atkins version as well, because I really did lose about 100 lbs on it 2 years ago...so maybe it will be believable. Unfortunately I also gained back 80 lbs of the weight I lost! ;)
Congrats again on your success!
;) Kristin
