Hi guys... I am 25 and I just had my surgery 2/21/06. So I am closing in on the end of my 3rd week and close to my 4th week. I just was wondering what other people have eaten at this time. My papers from the Dr. say soft foods, but my papers from my Nut, say still blinder everything. I don't want to do the wrong thing. I don't want to hurt the pouch. I had a complication a week after surgery, which then put me on my back for another week and half, so I haven't been able to exercise, and getting in food/protein was hard. I am now feeling much better and plan to start exercise this week. I will work on getting protein in also. I know I am lacking in protein, and water. But I am just curious what other people ate at 3/4 weeks out, and how you progressed. Also, do you journal? I hate journaling! But, I also know the benefits of it. Just hoping for some tricks-of-the-trade from those of you who have already been down this road. Thanks. Lindsy

Hi Lindsy, Welcome to the board!! I'm sorry to hear you had some problems already. As for me, my surgeon made me do liquid/semi-liquid for the whole first month. I wasn't released to soft foods until after my 1 month check-up. BUT, every surgeon is different, and I would follow the advice of your surgeon. You Nut is very knowledgable, but your surgeon is the expert. Follow his/her advice. I always had a hard time getting in my protein. I didn't care for the protein powder because I couldn't get it mixed very well. Sometimes I would use one of those wand blender/mixer thingies but it just added so much air that I felt like I was drinking foam. I didn't think that was very good for my pouch to get all that extra air. As for journaling, do you mean everything or just a food journal? If you want to keep a food journal that is a very noble thing. And there is a website that makes it so much easier...fitday.com It lets you input what you ate/how much, etc. and it calculates your totals for the day. It has a pie chart and everything. You can also track your daily activities and it will tell you how many calories you burn, etc. Good luck on your new adventure...it is well worth the struggle!!!!!!!!
