Hi All, I've been on other boards but I just feel out of place. I'm about to be 26 and I have a hard time relating to some of the other ladies on other boards. I kinda feel all alone in this. Even people I know that have had the surgery are way older than me. It seems that the only thing we have in common is a weight problem. I was glad to see that there were others out there just like me. Anybody in NC? Just curious. Anyway, thanks for posting. Krista

Welcome to the board Krista!! What stage are you in? Tell us more about yourself. I'm 13 mos post-op. I got pregnant when I was 6 mos out. My highest weight was around 250 and got down to 155 before pregnancy. I've gained back about 20-25 lbs now but I know I'll lose it once I have the baby. I'm 29 now. I'm living in Germany with my husband who was a soldier until last summer. Again Welcome!!! Brenda

Hi Krista! Welcome to the 20s board! I'm Lynn and I'm 23. I had Lap RNY on August 16, 2005 and have lost 87 pounds so far. I know exactly how you feel about feeling out of place. I think "we" can relate better with people our own age than those who are a little older. When I first starting going to my support group it was all older men and women, which was fine, but I felt kinda wierd being the youngest. Now, we have 2 more people who have joined and are my age. We seem to have a lot in common and have become good friends. So, I think you've come to the right place to make some good friends and have the support you need. If you ever want to talk, vent, or whatever, you can email me anytime. So where are you at in your journey? -Lynn Lap RNY 8-16-05 297/210.5/140

I am 26. I have not had surgery yet. Here in NC you have to submit a history package before the doc will see you. I submitted mine last Friday and I have not heard back. I am going to call if I don't hear something by 3pm today. I am married with a 2 year old son and I also have a 3 year old stepson and 4 year old stepdaughter. I've been researching the surgery for over 3 years now. Infact, I first started when I went to my OB to see about having children. He ripped me apart and made me feel so stupid for even thinking about having a baby. He told me I needed WLS before even considering it. So I went home, had a good cry, took my new stronger BC pill and started researching. At that time I thought only rich people and Springer people had such surgeries. I knew nothing then. But as with everything that happens with me, I read everthing I can get my hands on. I saw my PCP, got refered to the surgeon and was waiting on my consult apt. A month and a half later I found out I was already pregnant (and had been when the doctor told me not to even think about it). So after pregnancy, child birth, breast feeding and a year or so on an insurance with an exclusion policy, here I am with a new insurance trying it again...
