Hi there, I'm going in to have a psychiatrist evaluate me for insurance... is there anything i shouldn't say? I know i should be truthfull, and theres not much to hide. but i'm afraid if i tell him i was in and out of therapy for 6 years he will not approve me, if you know what i mean. honestly i'm not crazy nor THAT depressed to be denied. any input would be nice. Cheers- Chloe

My psych evaluation went great. I went to this great woman who was so kind and caring. She asked me to be honest and told me the only way she would not write a favorable report is if I was having the surgery just to please someone else or if I was suicidal. She recommended that I start regular therapy sessions with her every other week to help get me prepared for the mental aspects of the surgery and I am very glad that I am now going. I know it will help me in the long run and it will help me with all the mental junk I am carrying around. Good luck, and just be yourself.

Be honest. If you're not ready then you want to know that. Also being in therapy shouldn't effect anything. It's good to have continued support after your surgery with some type of therapist. Amy

Hey Chloe. I don't post on here, just read, but I remember asking that question when I had my evaluation. I had problems in the past, but I told them what they wanted to hear. But be truthful too. Good luck!
