I recieved a surgery date to remove my lapband but I am so torn with this because I wanted it to work. I have been walking and cutting down for a few weeks now and it has really helped. I am doing it on my own. I say that bc my band is not working properly. I wonder if he could just reposition it or put a new one in, it would be better than taking it out. I have been going back and forth on that for a while now leading up to getting the approval to remove it. Then I fear everything that I have been dealing with still happening just bc that is how the lapband really is. This is very hard on me just to remove it and say bye to all that money spent and all the time being banded. I dont know what to do about it, do I just remove it and feel better bc I wont have to deal with the problems I had with being banded? (some of my problems were shortness of breath, severe reflux bc of the slippage my food sat on my chest or I vomited, it also took a very long time to digest food which gave me heaviness in the chest until it went down, the band itself was also wrapped around my diaphram causing me breathing problems much worse than I have, so it increased my asthma which was never as bad as after being banded) or have him fix it or reband me and hope that I dont have any issues like I did before happen again? I am really scared about it. I also have a hernia to fix and they are not even telling me if he can do it at the same time. I think that it is possible though but I just dont know! What do you think? What would you do in this situation? Ugh, overall it is just a really hard decision. Needless to say I am very sad about all of this.

I'm sorry your having so many troubles with the band. If you have it repositioned then what happens if it slips again? I personally would have it removed and convert to RNY. But I'm biased because I've had RNY and it was the best decision of my life. I hope you get the answers your looking for. Tina 336/235/145

I tend to agree. Why not convert to the RNY while they are in there?
