Hair still coming out..??
Hi Everyone,
I was wondering when does your hair stop coming out? I'm 10 months out from my surgery and my hair is still coming out. My doctor did my blood work for my protein levels, folic acid, B12 etc. And they said that I've been getting in more than the recommended amount of everything they checked. The dietician said that I'm doing very well with everything because all of my levels were above the recommended amount.
Anyhow, I hope someone can shed some light on this. Has anyone else had this problem or do you have this problem still? And what can I do to stop my hair from coming out.
*Also, seeings how I'm not at my goal weight just yet, I'm getting closer to my 1 year post-op. So does that mean I will stop losing weight?
Thanks everyone and have a great day.

Hi Tifani!
I'm pre-op so I can only tell you what I've learned. As for the hair loss, I think it lasts until your body fully adjusts to its calorie/nutrient intake Even though you're almost a year out. I've read a lot of people are taking Biotin for hair loss. You won't stop losing weight as long as you follow your eating rules and exercise. It just gets harder to lose weight, but you will still lose.

I have long hair so I think I notice it a lot more.. but I have always lost hair... of course it was really bad between 4-6 months but now it is just average. Is yours still coming out alot? People do lose hair everyday... its normal.
Well as far as weight loss... it slow down dramatically to baby steps but I hear your "honeymoon" period of losing weight doesnt really end til 18months post-op. After that it will be more difficult to lose the weight.
Hello,
Well my hair is still coming out about 5-9 strands a day. Usually after my shower is when it comes out the most. But other times I don't really notice it. Just when I'm in the shower. Definately not as much as there used to be coming out but still enough to make me worried when it's going to stop. I too have kinda long hair and it's thin not majorly thin but it is thin. You can notice....or I can at least.
Thanks for the input and God bless.

Hi Sierra,
Wow really? You do lose more than that now and you haven't had surgery yet? How come you are loosing so much now? Well thanks for the input. You know there are days that I do lose more than 5-9 strands and some days I lose only 4 strands. It's weird......well take care and if you ever wanna chat. Feel free to email anytime
Take care.

oh wow, i just started loseing my hair and i just made 4 months out today, and if your about 10 months out oh my gosh ill have no hair by then hehehehehe. I had a rough start with complicatoin after complication so it was really really hard for me to get in my recommended protein, ive just revently was able to get some protein in on a daily bases so i just hope i dont lose to much hair the weight i dont mind hehehehe but the hair noooo
take care
Awww Robert I think you would look hot with a bald head and lots of tattoos. Just my opinion.
But I am worried about losing my hair too. Everytime someone posts about this I jump in to read it. I am starting my biotin NOW as I already have baby fine hair. I cannot afford to lose any. If I do I will be getting hair extensions PRONTO! Or wearing a wig. Thank god wigs are fun.

Hi Tifani,
Here's a few suggestions~
~Upin your protein intake, even if your already getting enough. It may help.
~Try to use a new shampoo. I've found a few that said on the bottle, "Added Protein...blah. blah. blah." This seemed to help.
~If you have long hair. I know it'll be tough, but maybe try going for a shorter hair style. I did this, and odd enough the hair loss stopped a bit.
Good luck! Don't stress to much over this!
Hugs~

I know it's gonna be hard for me to cut my hair (sobs... sniffs), I have always lost a lot of hair (without surgery) because it's kinda long and it tangles and I have to sometimes pull on it to dentangle. I just don't wanna know how i'm gonna do with less hair. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I won't lose more hair than i'm losing now.
