where do i start HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
every one my name is kish. I am starting my long journey to WLS, and i would like to know what i need to do and maybe some pointers on what i should write to the insurance company. I feel that they are only going to truley see me and understand me and not just some medical forms if i write them a letter telling my story and pic's of me. i currently have anthem bc/bs ppo and i live in ohio. my surgeon is dr. spiers out of springfield. so if anyone has any advice i would love to her it.
Hello and welcome,
First things first. Writing your story is a great idea. Also, gather any documentation you might have from previous attempts at loosing the weight (i.e. Weigh****cher weight trackers) Also go into your doctor with a list of all the diets you have tried along with dates, how long you were on them, how much you lost, and how long you kept off the weight if at all. I did this and it moved things along pretty fast. Also make a list of any and all medical issues you are having that can be related to the weight. Your BMI is in a range that will qualify you for surgery and BCBS is pretty good. They like documentation though, so make sure you arm yourself with that. Show them you have done your home work and I am sure you will have no problem.
Good luck!
Chrissy
I started the process on Nov 8 and had surgery on Dec 19. I have Federal BCBS. If I remember right, the lady at my doctor's office said that Fed BCBS and Athem do not yet require the 6 month monitored diet, so it may go faster than you think. Have you been to your first appt with the surgeon's office?
Congratulations on making this life-changing decision!
I have anthem BCBS and had no problems at all getting approved. Never once had to provide documentation, and was approved after the 1st letter, just ONE DAY after it was submitted! As long as the surgery is covered under your policy, I don't think you'll have any difficulties with your insurance company. The best of luck to you, Kisshelle!
