ohh!!!!!!!!!!!! i was soooo heated!
Okay--
I dont know how many of you all actually get the resturant cards after surgery where it states that you had gastric bypass and you should have the exception of ordering off the kids menu or senior menu....but I went to Red Lobster last night for one of my college buddies bdays and I asked the waitress if I could have a childrens menu and showed her my card, and before she even had the chance to look at my card and see my condition she looked at me and said "THE KIDS MENU IS ONLY FOR CHILDREN UNDER 10 YRS OF AGE...NO EXCEPTIONS" so I told her that I wanted to speak to the manager. When the manager arrived she had the nerve to laugh in my face and say "I understand exactly what you are going through but I cannot honor your card but I will be more than happy to give you a box for your food....."
I was so pissed because first off, I dont think she is compassionate towards people who have the courage to get WLS, and she made me completly humiliated in front of all the other customers. I ended up ordering seperate things on the menu which came to about the same price but needless to say...the waitress got a big fat nothing for a tip and I will be contacting corporate not to mention....I WILL NEVER DINE AT THAT RESTAURANT AGAIN.......................

Your gonna find lots of restaurants that do that now. It's sad I know but it is their choice and some are starting to chose not to honor those cards. I don't even ask to do it I just find some side item and order that or just a side salad. It saves the embarrassment of being told no or being treated rudely. Or I just don't order anything. Sorry you where treated so rudely.

Definitely call corporate. That kind of treatment is really unacceptable. Then be sure to tell everyone who will stand still long enough to hear the story. Perhaps they will lose even more business.
Then for your own sanity, look at it this way. You are getting two to three times the number of meals for your money as most people do. Box it up and take it home! :D
That is terrible that they had such poor customer service... now, that said, many places are not honoring the cards and I have to admitt that I understand. I figure it was my choice to make the decision to have WLS and that I paid $X amount to get full before surgery, I might as well pay $X amount now and take the leftovers home to enjoy later.
BUT, the way they handled the situation is appalling! I can not believe they had the nerve to be so rude about it and go so far to laugh in your face! I would try to talk to the manager of that particular restraunt in addition to corprate. Chances are you spoke with the shift manager.

I understand where you are going and she should never have laughed at you but the restaurant DOES NOT have to honor those cards... most normal weight people cannot finish a regular sized portion and do not ask to eat off the kids menu. Restaurants should not lose profit because we had our intestines altered. You shouldn't have not tipped the waitress either it is not her fault that is the restaurant policy. Look at it this way everybody would try to get the much lower priced kids menu if they knew all they had to do was say that had this surgery. I am not trying to flame you but there is no guarantee that they will accept restaurant cards and it should not be expected that they will, if they do great but that is really putting them in an akward position to even ask.

Another thing is that by honoring the card it is discrimination... seeing that the definition of discrimination is giving preferential treatment to someone because they belong to or do not belong to a certain group... I think they could get in trouble if they did this.
