Hi Kimberley, Congrats on your date. You'll do just fine, it is normal to be terrified before surgery. I honestly have no regrets, I've had no complications. The worst part is the stage I'm in now which is pureed food for 4 weeks, I have 1 week to go then I progress to soft food. I can't wait. Just let us know of any other questions or concerns you have that is why we are here. Take care. Carly

K I am so happy for you and hope that I will be posting the same message in the not so far future. You will do great! Just use this time to get your body and mind in the best shape for surgery. You know I am always here. Although I have not gone through WLS I do know about feeling terrified. Keep talking and asking questions.

Kimberly~ I never regret the surgery one bit. I am 6 months out down 85-90 lbs. I didn't have much to loose...as others say, so right now i think i am done loosing. Check out my profile for more info on me. You'll do fine and i think the stage you are in is the worst, well, that and the day of surgery. LOL! Everyone is scared and nervous, even if they say otherwise. Have any ???'s, email anytime! Take Care, Lisa 221/136/130

Congrats! Everything starts to feel real now that you have a date. I am 6 weeks post-op and down about 30lbs. I have had no complications. I was a little scared before surgery, but I just put it into God's hands. Everything is going great. The worst day- the day of surgery. I was so nauseated for about 24 hours. But I went home the next morning and heave not been sick since then. Good luck and God bless.

I do not regret the surgery. I just had my surgery less than 2 weeks ago. I am having a little trouble moving onto soft foods. Besides that there's no problem. The first couple days are rough, but I'm pretty much pain free now. I just have a little pain lifting my daughter (which I'm not supposed to be doing.) The only regrets I have are not eating all my favorite foods before surgery. Make a list now, and over the next couple weeks eat them. The psychological impact is greater than you realize. You will end your relationship with food overnight, and that's the hardest part. Amy

Hi Kimberly, I know how you feel. I was so scared when I went in for my surgery that I almost chickened out and left the hospital in my gown and booties. Then the nurse came in with the IV and I was stuck. I'm glad I did it though. I'm out a little over 4 months and down 85 pounds. The worst parts of the surgery for me were the anticipation, the drain(I couldn't have been happier when I got that thing out), and the tiredness after the surgery. I was wiped out for over a month. Other than that everything went well. There were no complications and I was back to work in 2 weeks. I wish you the best of luck. I'm sure you will do great!

To start off .. Do I regret it?? Not 1 bit. It's one of the easiest things I have ever did in my life. 2ndly ... the worst part?? The 1st month or so -- food cravings. I swear for a month and a 1/2 I craved a grilled cheese sandwich. Why? I have no idea, it's not 1 of my favorite foods or anything; but I wanted 1 so bad. When I finally got to where I was allowed some bread - I ate a few bites of one and moved on. It takes some adjusting. And the 1st year really can be tough - until your lil pouch and you get use to each other you will have some hard times, but it was never too much to deal with. Complications?? Only thing I have had is I did have to get my gallbladder took out a year later, but that was no biggie. So would I say go for it? You bet! But make sure it is what you want 100%, because you do have to change your habits and lifestyle. If you are willing to change and obey the rules then this is 1 of the easiest and most rewarding things you can do. If you ever have any questions just email me I'll be glad to help you in any way that I can. Julie 21mos out ... -185lbs. =-)
