So, I was wondering how many of you are having major excess skin issues?? Do you all plan to have plastics? I know that everyone is different, but I am curious as to those in their 20's, if the skin is really all that much more elastic.

I dont have much skin but I know that I am going to have to have a tummy tuck because I my stomach is slouching now and everyone keeps telling me that the middle of my stomach (where my belly button is located) looks like a butt...which is sooooo embarrassing! So we shall see in the future. I wouldnt worry about saggy skin to much though because I hear from everyone that since we are soooo young, it will bounce back like elastic. I wouldn't worry tooo much! Finda Nessy

well I am only three months out and from the look of my arms I will need some work done but I was told the same thing about being "YOUNG" and more "ELASTIC" Let's hope and pray RIGHT!

M When I had this surgery I was 350 lbs, in the last 10 months I've dropped 144 lbs. I've dealing with major skin issues. I wish all of it were tighter and more firm. Nothing at all seems to help it. I'm pretty disgusted with my skin. However I wouldn't change my decission to have the surgery for anything. I'm about 24 and I have noticed the one thing is that my stretch marks are becoming almost invisible. That is a plus. Faith

I read somewhere that it can take up to TWO YEARS for our younger, elastic skin to bounce back from weight loss so I guess we should all be patient, right? Also, if one works out to put back some muscle tone that will help reduce/absorb the excess skin. Damm, it appears that doing the healthy thing is the right thing yet again (she says with sarcasm).

I'm 24 and I had my surgery in Aug '05. So far, I'm down about 73 pounds and I'm starting to notice that my arms are sagging pretty bad. I'm not surprised though because my arms were really heavy. I'm going to wait until at least my 1 year post-op anniversary though before I think about seeking a consult for plastics. My tummy seems to be coming back, but I can tell the belly button area is sagging a tiny bit. I don't know if that's worth fixing (as I'm sure insurance woudln't cover something like that since it's only cosmetic). Thighs are a disaster, but I hear it's one of the most painful plastic procedures and leaves bad scarring... so I'm not sure about that one either. Have to wait and see!

M, I am 21, 5'3" and started at 364 pounds. That's a lotta weight for such a small body! I already have minor skin issues (read: boobs have lost 2 cup sizes, and are sagging, and I will soon be able to actually fold my rolls... could never do that before! lol They used to be 'solid' fat.) Do I plan on plastics? Hell yeah! I'm putting off buying other things that I want, (a car, a place of my own, school, a new computer, tons of new clothes, etc.) in order to save a bit of money for plastics. I'm also *working* on getting my credit in good standing. I still have a good 12-18 months though, before I'll be seeking out plastic surgery. What do I plan on getting done? THE WORKS! (Back, arms, boobs, tummy, thighs, butt, maybe even my neck/face and lower legs, if they need it.) I plan on doing it in several surgeries, maybe 2-3 of them. And hopefully soon after one another, like 3 months or something. I also plan on having children after my plastic surgeries. If I were already married, maybe I would hold off on the plastics until after babies... But, I'm not! Do I worry about skin issues returning after children? A bit. But I figure that I'll just look like the average woman who's had a few kids... And I think that's something to be proud of! (My hubby better like it too! hehe) Hope this helped, Amanda in Akron

I had my suregery 4 years ago , I had hernia repair last year and begged my dr to do a TT . At the time my insur wouldnt pay for it . I am going to lose another 30 lb and I am going to start looking into it . I dont think my stomach bothes me as much as my inner thighs . They are bad.... I wont dare wear a bathing suit. The only thing about my stomach I think I could get into alot smalled clothes if I didnt have so much extra. ..
