Hey everyone, I wanted to ask all of you post-ops a question. I am having my surgery on October 13 and I am sooooo excited but I also am a little worried because I had made a promise to some of m friends months ago that for halloween, we would all to fear fest at Six Flags but I am wondering how that will work with my new pouch? I know that they will be pissed if I just go and can't get on the roller costers but I know that my pouch will be so sensitive and just healing and I dont want to risk it so my question to you all is do you think that I will have enough strength by then to walk around the park and go on the roller coasters? Of course I will ask the advise of my nurse and surgeon, but I would like to hear how you all felt 2 weeks out...could you do a lot of activity or just moderate? Thanks... Finda Nessy

Hey there.. I will be 2 weeks post-op tomorrow (Monday) and personally, I feel great. I am still having a bit of soreness from my incisions, but really only when I lay down to go to sleep. I have been really active everyday since about 4 days ago. I've taken excercise walks, hung out with friends etc.. The first 10 or so days I still got really tired after being out and about for an afternoon or a few hours.. But I just made it a point to get enough rest and really respect what my body was going through trying to heal. The key is to not do too much too fast and you'll be A.O.K! I was surprised how getting 17 lbs off of me has made me feel so much better already! Good luck and check with your doc!

Hey there, I am not positive, but I think I was still pretty sore at two weeks out. I couldn't imagine going to a theme park, although I bet it would be super fun. I think it would just be hard on your new stomach, especially all of the bruises and everything. It seems like the bars that go across on the rides would be painful. Thats just my take on it, I don't want to be a downer, lol. Wait until the time comes and see what you think you can do!!! -Amber Dawn

I would say it depends on what type of surgery you have. Lap or open? I think with lap, you wouldn't have a problem 2 weeks out ( I was able to go back to school, drive, have no exercise restrictions, etc 2 weeks out from lap surgery). Now with open, I'm not sure, but I would assume you won't be able to do as much, but I have no clue. Talk with your Dr., he'll know. "I" personally wouldn't ride in roller coasters that flip and do crazy stuff even if I did have lap surgery b/c I think that you're still healing inside and doing all that would upset it ( this is only my opinion, I have no clue, plus I hate roller coaster anyway, lol) Just check with your Dr. before. -Lynn Lap RNY 8-16-05 297/258/150

I am planning on having lap but I think that you are right, and I am not trying to risk it so....I will just have to walk with them to the different rides and wait with everyones coats and purses .....But I would NEVER regret getting this surgery because in the long run it will change my life.....thanx for all the feedback and comments and I am happy to hear you all are doing so well as post-ops... At 2 weeks, I was still feeling pretty weak - and I'm sure any of those rides would have made me Personally, I wouldn't go on anything too crazy. But, I'm sure your friends (if they're like mine) aren't going to wait in line for the merry-go-round! Just take it easy, and make sure you drink lots of fluids!

This is something that you will have to wait and see.....I've had several surgeries in the past and was fine. Heck, I had a C-Section and was back to normal WAY before the doc said I should be. But my Lap gastric byass kicked my butt. I was so tired I couldn't stand it. The soreness never bothered me, but I couldn't kick that yucky flu like feeling. I hope you don't experience this, but you never know.

Hi Finda, I was still very sore and soooo tired at 2 weeks. I couldn't fit on rollercoasters at the time of my surgery, so what u r wondering about wasn't even a possibility for me, but know that everyone is different and you might be fine and you might not. I would just tell your friends now that u r not sure if you can make it just in case. I know u don't want to let them down, but its so important to take care of yourself after surgery. If your surgeon says no go just use that as your excuse Best wishes with your surgery!!! Hugs, Sara
