hi all just letting you know I have been post op for 8 days. I am feeling preety good. I get around fine and I can sleep on my side now. I am preety tired most of the day and people notice I am looking weak. I am drinking a small protien shake in the morning and evening, I get about 40 grams of protien a day, stillnot enough but I have been having a little bit of a sick feeling most of the days. liquid is very very hard for me. I am thirsty 24/7. I find my self dreaming at night about juicy fruit and water, you have no idea how much you muss a big frosty glass of coke or water until its gone forever. I always want to chug chug chug and i can only sip sip sip, its torture I swear. and to top it off, cold drinks make me sick to my stomache so now i get room temp water or crystal light totally not satisfying. I know it wil get better soon so for now I am trying to just bear with it, my husband is a big help, he gives me the pep talks i need when i start talking down on my decision. On the up side I have lost 13 pounds, I cant really notice it yet but I will soon I'm sure. so thats all for now, I will go update my profile now, thanks for listening to me rant, bye all!

Hi Laura, Congratulations on your weightloss so far!!! I am sorry you are so thirsty. I remember those days...they are long gone for me now but reading your post brought me back to the days following my surgery when I would suck on a wet paper towel...gross I know, but it helped me combat the constant feeling of thirstiness. I didn't have the sensitivity to cold beverages though. But now I really can gulp water...about a fourth of a glass at a time. So basically I am saying this won't last forever or anything! You are doing great and it only gets better Hugs, Sara

Hey, I'm 11 days post op. I've lost 19lbs so far and I'm losing my mind over the urge to drink. Only thing keeping me sane is sugar free popsicles. I'm allowed 2-3 a day. Those things are wonderful. Last night I also got AquaDrops (sugar free) and tried those. They are ok, but not near as good as the popsicles. I was just wondering.. are you having problems sneezing or anything? If I sneeze.. it hurts more than I hurt right after surgery. I was just curious if you or anyone else had dealt with that and what you've done to make it go away. I'm going to post a message to the group asking, but I figured while I was messaging you I'd ask to see if you had dealt with it. Take care!!

If you feel a sneeze coming on, grab a pillow and hold it to your stomach and just get ready for it. The same goes for coughing. They gave me a stomach pillow (actually in the shape of a stomach and some intestine, lol) in the hospital for these purposes. Don't worry, you're only 11 days out, eventually you will feel like you never even had the surgery (except when you eat, of course). Sometimes I forget that I have had it, I know, weird. -Lynn 8-16-05 297/267/150
