Hey Guys I'm Having A Really Rough Time Right Now With My Personal Life Well With All Aspects Of My Life.....For Instance My Job Is Miserable And The City I'm Living In Is Way Over Populated Due To Hurricane Katrina. I've Noticed Lately I Have Not Lost Any Weight I Have Stayed The Same. I Don't Eat Hardly Anything And If I Do It's Chips And Salsa From The Resturant I Go To Everyday....Las Palmas!!!! Anyways I Meet My Best Friend Up There Everyday Sunday - Sunday For The Last Two Weeks And It Seems My Tolerance For Alcohol Is Growing And My Weight Loss Is Staying The Same. I Know I Need To Stop And I Know That I Will Lose Weight If I Do....I Honestly Don't Know What I'm Asking For Maybe Just For Someone To Tell Me Some Of There Own Experiences....I Don't Know....But What I Do Know, I Need Some Tough Love So That I Can Make My Band Work Again. I Know I'm Young And I've Been So Miserable Lately That I Haven't Even Stopped In To Say Hello Or Check On Anyone. I Hope All Is Well Your Way. So For Anyone Who Wants To Respond Or Has Any TOUGH LOVE That Might Be Helpful, Please Respond. Thanks So Much In Advance. Nickster

NICKSTER.....STEP AWAY FROM THE ALCOHOL it's full of empty calories....and to WAY to much sugar I'm not going to FLAME you....becasue WE ALL have times that we eat things that we should not. The only thing that I'm going to say is that you have taken the first step, by admitting that there is a problem. My suggestions are to get back on the "PROTEIN TRAIN," and start that body, and make haelthy food choices. As far as the personal life and job goes, DO NOT LET IT CONSUME YOU. Pray about it and leave it alone. Hope this helps Steph

Aww Steph.............Thank You For Your Reply. You Have No Idea How Much It Means To Me. I Know What I Have To Do........I Just Need Encouragment. I Tell You I Don't Know What I Would Do Without OH.com. All Of My Friends Support Me With My Surgery But It's So Hard Because We Are Still Really Young Into The Party Stage And I Knew This Before I Had My Surgery. I Just Thought To Myself I Can Do This.......And You Know What I Can. It's Just Going To Take Time. I Went Today I Got Me A Protein Drink. I Wish I Could Explain How Much Better I Feel. I Feel Wonderful. Sometimes We Just Need The Push From Somone Else To Get Us To Step Away From The Edge. Thank You So Much I Greatly Appreciate It. Nickster

Awww...I've going thru the same thing. I am trying to break up with my boyfriend, but he won't go. It's really gotten me down so I've been going out a lot and lately those nights have included up to 4 martini's. Very bad and has gotten me into trouble, too. I will be going to a therapist next week. I'm hoping he might help. I am very careful never to drink alone, so I never have alcohol in the house. It just sounds like you're going thru a tough time right now and are using an alternative coping mechanism which is drinking. If it starts to get out of control, I recommend you get some help sooner than later. Hope everything turns out right for you. Liz

Sorry to hear you are going through this, I have been going through it too, alcohol makes me forget about everything, but it also makes me make horrible decisions, I find that with the weight loss I am getting a little more attention than I have ever gotten in my entire life, and its hard not to eat it up. Anyway, just get back on the protein train, limit alcohol to maybe just weekends, I dont' have a problem with carbonation and my dr doesn't either, so I have been doing the low carb bacardi wine cooler things, and there is a new low carb rum out there too. I try to mix my alcohol with sugar free mixers. I love redbull and vodka, but most bars dont' carry the diet....I do martinis alot cause, I dont' think there is much sugar in them.......email me if you ever need to talk, or get me on instant messenger, LSTACK369 on yahoo and aol. Sometimes talking helps, and that goes for everyone else too, would love to talk to all of you!! Good Luck! Luv ya Leigh ann

Hey Nickster, I know what you're going through. I just woke up out of a 10 month bender. I was told I would get drunk off of a glass of wine...but 1 turned into 2 and then a bottle...and yes...sometimes 2. Empty calories, yes, but I kept on going anyways...the last 2 months though I got REALLY sick and didn't want to stop because I'm young and was having fun with my friends. I finally realized I was killing myself (I had RNY so it is prob worse for me to drink) and went to AA the last 4 days...so sad cause I'm only 22. But I did this surgery to save my life and was destroying it with alcohol. It's easy to exchange one addiction with another. Just remember why you got this surgery. It's hard, expecially for us in our 20s. I wish you luck. Keep up with the good work!! I don't know if this helps...but just to let you know there's others out there. Sober for 5 days, Christine (still have the shakes) feel free to e-mail me 330/315/175/165?

Think of it this way. If you drink too much you could start throwing up. If you throw up too much, you could cause your band to slip. I know you didn't go thru the pain of surgery just to have your band slip. I noticed you said your not eating much. Do you think you band could be too tight? This causes a lot of people to start drinking empty calories (mostly I've heard of drinking milkshakes instead of vodka ). As far as dealing with stress. I need to take my own advice of this one, but try taking a walk. My head always feels so much clearer afterward. Hang in there, Amy
