Psychological testing?
VSG on 02/28/13
I think the psychologist I selected is WAY over doing it with her evaluation. She had me do the tests on Wednesday, and then interviewed me and DH for 1 ½ hours on Saturday. She said I did great and was very happy to see that I wasn't just jumping into this. I figured we were done, but then she asked us to come back this Saturday so she could review her evaluation with us. I guess I should be grateful that she's so thorough, but I just want to get this done and submitted to Aetna. One thing I am happy about, was that she was able to get Aetna to approve all the testing and interviews!
I just had my eval yesterday... Where you ask? Well the loony bin, naturally. Yes, that's right. Cedars Sinai has their social worker housed in the nut house. Add to that the fact that they didn't tell me where the heck I was supposed to go once I got inside, I was bugging the people at the intake window about WLS. I know they are not supposed to, but they were looking at me like I was one of the crazies. I kept looking over my shoulder for the man with the white net. After a nice trip in the elevator with a man talking to himself and a woman staring unblinking at me for the duration of the ride, I finally found someone to point me in the right direction. A doctor (really cute btw) pretending to listen to a guy rambling on about how conservative he has decided to dress (mind you he was wearing red plaid pants and a pink shirt... conservative hmm...) shows me a door next to the out patient ward's sign in desk. I finally get in with the social worker and she seems nuttier then everyone I encountered in the halls. Kept telling me how important it was that I gave up all meat because it was immoral and wrong to eat our animal friends. Then she spots an ant walking across her desk and proceeds to talk to it and ask me if I thought it would be alright if she ran down and put it in the garden and that she'd be right back. At this point I'm saying anything that will get me approved and able to get the hell out of there. Once she gets back up, (a good 20 minutes later) she looks at me a little bit confused and says, "oh honey you didn't need to wait. " Grrr.. She says I'm a perfect candidate and sends me on my way. We didn't really talk about anything and I don't know how this is supposed to help with WLS. At this moment I'm not even sure that I actually met with the shrink or if I was having a conversation with one of the residents. We shall see. Point of the story? Two trips doesn't sound odd at all. Expect anything. Seems the psychologists are a bit loonier then we will ever be. :0) Good luck!
