Okay Post-ops fess up...
well i am only 3months post op today actually and down 80lbs, but from what my surgeon says that about the 3 momth mark is when most people will start to notice some shedding. Now I have long curly hair so i shed all the time, so i haven't noticed a difference yet. but my surgeon suggest you can use the mane and tail shampoo or gnc has a lot of supplements that are supposed to help. check with your surgeon to what he would suggest
I have a nice length of hair that I would LOVE to keep it that way. I have yet to notice any hairloss and hope that it stays that way. I have been sitting on pins with this issue. I take Bioton, and have NOT put any checmicals in my hair since March (I had WLS May 4,2005)preparing myself for WLS. I have keep my scalp moisturized with Natural Organic Oils that DO NOT contain Mineral Oil, I shampoo and condition my hair with HAIR products (I love the protein pack) and at night I tie my hair up with a silk scarf and try NOT to wear pony tails to tight if at all. I have been told that I'm over doing it, but so far, I can tell that my hair has thickened up, and is growing. So I'm going to keep doing my thing, in hopes that my hair DOES NOTfall out.
Oh.....I also try and keep up my daily protein and vitamins
sorry for the LONG post
Mine started later...at like 4 or 5 months. It's gross. I clog up my shower drains! It comes out when I comb my hair, when I blowdry my hair, when I wash my hair, when I do just about anything to my hair! I had my hair pretty long and it wasn't too noticeable, but it bothered me that I had these long strands of hair all over the place, so I chopped it off like 3 days ago. (teardrop)
What-ever! I'll take hair loss over being morbidly obesed any friggin day!!!
I'm now just 16 lbs short of my surgeon's goal sitting at the 6 1/2 month mark...not too bad of progress. My ultimate goal is to be 115lbs, which I think I might realistically attain...maybe lose even more than that. I'm happy.

I've lost hair for as long as I can remember. I lost almost half of my super thick hair when my son was born. What I've learned is to do as little as possible to it. Wa**** let it air dry, run fingers through it, and straighten the areas that are too wavy. I try to only do this when my hair NEEDS to be washed. I've curbed the hair falling out and I think it's getting healthier.
Has anyone else noticed that the hair vitamins are making your hair oilier? I've gone from washing my hair once a week to every other day.
Thank you for your posts. I guess I will start trying to get in some of the habits you all are already doing so I will be used to it. I have PCOS so I already have some hair loss but right now my hair is thick so I don't notice it. I will just get on the ball and take care of it now and hope that it won't be a bit issue once I have surgery. Thank you all again!
