It's been a while since I've been on... So I'm really excited about this new board. I'll post more later. I'm searching for other Lap-Band members about my age. I haven't had WLS yet, but am PRAYING to before the end of October. *so wish me luck* I have an appointment with the Psychologist all day Wed. to get all the testing and interviewing completed. Once that's done, we can submit to Aetna . I have a bad feeling I'll be denied because of their stupid "must have" rule below. I'll use ~~~ to section it out for you. II. Vertical Banded Gastroplasty (VBG) and Laparoscopic Adjustable Silicone Gastric Banding (LASGB or Lap-Band): Aetna considers open or laparoscopic vertical banded gastroplasty (VBG) or laparoscopic adjustable silicone gastric banding (LASGB, Lap-Band) medically necessary for members who meet the selection criteria for obesity surgery ~~~and who are at increased risk of adverse consequences of a RYGB due to the presence of any of the following comorbid medical conditions: Hepatic cirrhosis with elevated liver function tests; or Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis); or Radiation enteritis; or Demonstrated complications from extensive adhesions involving the intestines from prior major abdominal surgery, multiple minor surgeries, or major trauma; or Poorly controlled systemic disease (American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA) Class IV) (see Appendix).~~~ I don't have any of those stomach related co-morbidities, but meet all of the other criteria. WTH? Ok I'm going to move on because I'm getting BBL

Hey Tiffany! I too have AETNA and wanted the Lap band. Unfortunately, I didn't meet their criteria and opted for RNY. I got approved with no problems whatsoever and will be having my surgery tomorrow morning at 7:30. I really hope you get approved for the Lap band! Keep us posted. XOXOXO Jennifer
