drinking
Hello All..Well as of tomorrow I will offically be a month out and down 30 lbs...Yea me!!! I have a question for all of you...This may sound crazy but when would I be able to have alcohol...I know this has useless calories and I should be using them on healthy foods...but I have a gathering ( )coming up for a friend of mine wedding which i am in and was wondering if i could have a glass of wine..im not talking about getting loaded just one glass..lol..ok now that i sound like a nut..

i wouldnt chance having any alcohol because your intestines are still healing, i waited until i was like 5 months out, my doctor reccomends waiting till your atleast 6 months out. and wine tends to have alotta sugar in it :/
and also you dont know how your body is gunna react, it would suck if your at the gathering an you wind up dumping :/

I agree with Mike that you should wait till you are further out to try drinking. Its hard on a normal person's digestive system so our livers get it much faster and we are effected much more than a normal person. I can handle fruit juices so if I am going to have a drink (VERY RARELY) I have vodka and cranberry. I would wait. JMHO

Hi Christina,
I had my surgery last year august 23rd, and I didn't drin****il November, if even then, and I got wasted, I had 2 apple martinis Before liquor didn't touch me! I didn't dump but I felt DRUNK i couldnt even walk, they had to help me home...and the worse past is...It crept up on me I didnt even feel it until it was too late...My advice would be to wait atleast 6 months and then take it SLOW

Well....I Guess I'm The Odd Ball. I Drink Faithfully At Least 4 Times A Week. So My Advice To You Would Be It's Your Body Everyone Is Different I Had The Lap Band So You Might Just Have To Try And See How It Turns Out. It Also Doesn't Take Much To Get Me Drunk Either But I Love To Drink. It Kind Of Goes With The Music Scene I'm In So I Get Pretty Wasted Quite Often. Anyways I Would Just Tell You To Take It Easy.
Take it slow,
We absorb very very differently. One glass should be ok - but understand that you very likely could get loaded off just that glass if your stomach is empty and you drink more than one sip every few minutes.
I waited for a year, because that's what my surgeon requested. First drink**** SO much harder than before.
Be careful,
~Lara
I had my surgery a little over a month ago and have started drinking again. I don't drink beer or any sweet drinks. Everyone says that after the surgery you get drunk a lot quicker it's not true for me. I mean I was a big drinker before surgery what I figure is when people go a year without drinking of course they will get drunk easier. If you are going to drink just start off taking it slow. Have fun!
