Initial consult on Monday-what can I expect??

Hi everyone! I go to see Dr Davey on Monday and was wondering what I can expect at my first apt with the surgeon. I am so excited to go, I don't think i will sleep on Sunday night but I just want to make sure I have everything I need. I am going to make a list today of all of the Obesity related problems I have to take with me so I don't forget anything. Thanks in advance, Erin

I had my consult yesterday! Just make sure that if you have any questions for your doctor like...How many surgeries have you preformed, How many deaths have you had and why, and How many complications? Stuff like that. Make sure to ask those then because this is when to do it. Good luck to both of you! -Tiffany :D

I can't say what you will exactly happen during your 1st consult, but here is what happened when I had mine a while back: 1) Office staff has you fill out paperwork (new patient registration forms) 2) Office staff makes photo copy of your insurance care (if applicable) 3) Nurse calls you in, weighs you & measures your height, checks your temp and blood pressure 4) Surgeon comes in, introduces himself 5) Asks why you have considered WLS 6) Asks you what your comorbities are and anything else that causes you daily problems due to your weight 7) Tells you about different procedures 8) Tells you about the procedure you are interested in 9) Checks your stomach (nothing too clinical) 10) You get a tentative date for surgery, and are given a list of tests (ekg, echo, thyroid, pulmonary, nutrition, psych) to have done 11) you leave excited Hope that helps!
