Hello,

Anyone in their 20's have WLS and around 5'1 and 300lb**** goal and maintain? I'm wondering how the skin is holding up. I'm apple shaped, carry my weight proportionate but have a large belly upper arms and upper inside thighs.

I am concerned about how my skin is going to hold up. I know I will probably need a tummy tuck and boob job after I hit goal, have another baby and then maintain for a minimum of 2 years post baby. So approximately 4 years away.

Any tips to help with skin? I had a friend who swore by a binder. She wore it religiously every day and while working out. Her skin isn't that bad but she carries differently than I do.

Thanks in advance.

i'm 5'0" and started around 252/253 and never hit my ultimate goal, but am maintaining less than i have ever weighed as an adult (probably since middle school). my body just does not want to drop under 150, i was 148 for a few weeks after being sick but it bounced back up.

others say my skin isn't bad but it's a wreck to me. i haven't had kids yet (and no plans to do so anytime soon seeing as i haven't even had a date in over a year). i'm having an extended tummy tuck with lipo in my hips and thighs in june. after that we'll evaluate if my thighs need a lift too or if the lipo solved the weird fat deposit issue i currently have. then i plan on having a breast reduction/lift, with possibly an upper body lift depending how that looks after my june surgery, same with the arms, and if the things are needed then i'll have them done then too. no idea how i'll be paying for this second surgery but it wouldn't be for at least a year anyway and hopefully insurance would cover the reduction.

i don't see the binder really helping. the excess skin is due more to genetics and the elasticity of your skin. if you're going to get it there really isn't any way to avoid it. muscle can make it look a little better, but it will definitely still be there.

Oh wow! You are going to look awesome!

I'm honestly not really worried about my stomach unless it hangs really bad. I'm not the type to wear short shirts or bikinis so as long as I can wear spanx and look decent in clothes I'm ok. It's my thighs, arms and boobs I'm most concerned about. My upper arms are already fairly large and hang low. My upper thighs are really muscular but have that fat on the inside by my "lady area" lol and my boobs are already a wreck from nursing 2 kids. My boobs are a "I know" I will have to have one. Lol

Good luck with your surgeries. Will you be posting any before/after pics? I love look at everyone's journey!

i hate the way that my stomach looks even in jeans. and i'm extremely uncomfortable in spanx (or even tights), plus if i wear them now i get awful marks all over my skin. i'll probably never get all of the surgeries i want (unless i marry a plastic surgeon lol), but a girl can dream lol. i'll probably post before/after pictures when i'm all excited about how i look lol. if you add me as a friend i have pictures on my profile from before/after my rny, they haven't been updated in about a year but not much has changed since then.

my biggest tip with skin: work out. Not just cardio now, body strength training. The harder you work the toner it will tighten up. Realistically, everyone has skin issues. I worked my ass off to get my skin as tight as possible. I still had to get cosmetic surgery to remove excess skin.

my second tip: SAVE. Be careful shopping too much for clothes while you're losing. I shopped at thrift shops, ross, and sales only. I save money knowing that I will have to get cosmetic surgery once I've maintained.

hope that helps =)

I am 5 feet tall and was 240 at my heaviest. I currently weigh 130 lbs. i do have a pooch belly lol bc i have had a baby but its not something that working out wont get rid of. I dont really have alot of extra skin because i did work out during my actual weight loss. I think that you will be fine as long as you work out. Luckily you are still young and your body still has elasticity! you can check out my before and after pictures on my profile! I am almost 4 years post op and still maintaing my weight. I wouldnt mind losing another 10 -15 lbs but am very happy with myself and I wouldnt take back having the surgery. I would do it ten times over again if I had to. It was hard but so worth it to have my life back. Good luck girl! Hope I could help!

Because in the end it will all be worth it Brittany
