Help
I am due to have gastric bypass surgery in March but are still having doubts. I am 25, 5'3 and up to 267lbs, I keep gaining weight. Does anyone have any really good tips on loosing weight? Another issue I have is excess skin, I have been told that because of my age it shouldn't be too bad but what is "too bad?" Has anyone around my height and weight have the surgery and possibly age and how is it? And is there any tips to prevent it? Also the hair loss, how bad is it and how long does it last? Any help would be great, thank you!
i was 24 when i had my rny, 5' and 252 so pretty comparable. i could not lose weight no matter what i did so i'm no help there. i definitely have excess skin, and it is noticable by other people not just me (my neice thinks it's cool and likes to play with it, talk about making me feel uncomfortable lol). my arms, thighs, and stomach are what i would get plastics on in an ideal world. just like excess skin is different for every single person, so is hair loss. i had super thick hair before surgery, now it's probably the thickness of most people's but seems so thin to me. it is growing in though, it's thicker on the top and i always have the little new growth pieces sticking up. for most it starts around 3 months after surgery and lasts 3-6 months.
for both there is no way to prevent them, or to stop them. working out may help your excess skin look a little better, but the only way to get rid of it is plastics. and nothing will prevent the hair loss because it's the shock of surgery on your body, getting your protein and vitamins in will help it regrow though.
