Surgery on August 16th
Yay My RNY surgery is next week! On wednesday I met with the surgeon for my last consultation and did all of my pre-registration stuff at the hospital! I start my 3 day liquid diet on monday (everyone else's liquit diets seem so much longer?). But there is one downside. I'm completely nervous and it's all I can think about. I knew this was coming for almost a year now, and I've been so so excited the whole time. Now my nerves are kicking in because it's becomming so real! Does anyone else have surgery coming up next week? Anyone else really nervous? How are you dealing with (or how did you deal with) being so nervous? Any last minute tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you ladies for your kind words. My surgery is tomorrow at 10am and I have to be at the hospital at 6:15am. I live about 3 hours away from where I am having surgery so my mother and I are going to go down tonight and staying in a hotel until the morning. I've kind of gotten rid of my nervousness. I'm ready and I'm excited!! Let the adventure begin! :)
Yes, I am home now. I stayed 2 nights in the hospital. I had horrible nausea and "gagging" for almost 2 days. It was probably the worst experience that I have had with this so far. I live alone so I also stayed 2 nights at my mothers house until i was feeling up to being home. I came home this afternoon and I have to say, being home is the best feeling in the world! I'm no longer in much pain and the nausea has subsided. The only problem I've been having is diarrhea! I started having it when i started my 3 day liquid diet prior to surgery and it hasn't stopped. My doctor is not concenered and says that sometimes it happens but to call him if it does not stop by the end of the week. Did any of you girls have this problem? It's very annoying and quite uncomfortable. Every time i feel as if i have to pass gas I have to go to the bathroom just incase! Any tips on how to make it stop?
Thank you! I was exactly one week out yesterday. My nausea and diarrhea have finally stopped, but I am now overwhelmed with the feeling of having no energy. This is especially tough with a 4 year old little boy at home!! Even when I get up to shower I feel as if I have pushed my body too hard and have to lay down again! I just want to feel normal (but I know it takes a while for your body to adjust).
