Plastics
Hi all!
Just curious how many of you have had plastics, and what procedures you got, recovery time, and whether or not it was covered by insurance.
Also...I am debating whether or not I want to wait until I have kids to get plastics on my stomach. I have heard mixed thoughts on this. :)
I am hardly at the point where I am ready for plastics, but just starting to think about it. I am 28 years old, married, and hoping to have kids within the next few years, but also hoping to enjoy my new body without a ton of hanging skin.
TIA!

I want to get an apron removal eventually - my surgery was in 2005 and I've been maintaining since 2007 - but I have been told to wait until I have kids. When they remove the skin they take the most elastic part, so when you have a kid you are going to end up with some sagging skin anyway. If you are married and ready for kids, I'd wait until it's safe (looks like you are pretty newly post-op, and I've heard to wait at least 2 years for pregnancy) - and then go for it, and after that have the skin removal. I know it seems like a ways to wait, but the way I see it, I look pretty good, and this body and I have been through a lot together, and I look good all things considered - tons better than when I was so heavy and miserable - and I can wait a few more years to get the flat stomach, etc that I want.

Congratulations on all of your recent happiness and sucesses!!
I had my apron removed eighteen months after my bypass. I wasn't in a relationship, had lost 180 pounds and needed to continue my journey to health. By this time, my apron touched my knees while standing, my mobility and hygiene were effected as if I was 400 pounds again. My parents' insurance covered the normal panni removal (hip to hip) but my parents paid to have the extra incision (vertical, sternum to horizontal cut) and make it an anchor.
I am in a very serious relationship now and children are being talked about. We will cross that bridge when it comes near, but for now, I'm still getting used to my loose skin elsewhere :)
