HI I am 22 as well and there were some people who think I to am to young to get this surgery but what matters most is that MY family supports me and they do... I have a cuzin who had gastric bypass over a yr ago and is happier then ever now my cuzin and I (her little sister) are in the process I will be havin my last pre-op appointment this coming friday then papers will be sent of to the insurance company...I to tired everything in the book to lose weight but nothin I will just lose 15-20lbs and then gain sometimes I would go days without food in my systems just liquid and I still wouldnt lose anything....at the end of the day this journey s going to be own and u have to make the best of it. They dont have to support you but they do have to understand were your coming from trust me there are going to be many many many people who are not going to approve.... But you have to do what makes you happy and thats more important.....

Thank u!! I've sat his family down and explained y I need 2 have this surgery and that every other diet I've tried failed they r now on team Jessica!! They thought I was doing it for my looks!! And thats not the truth when I explained to them that I'm 5'4" and 306lbs with a BMI of 52.5 they were surprised!! And understood that this is something I need and want!! But thank you for your understanding!! I'm new on this site and I have not yet found a surgeon!! So I dnt even know what the pre-op procedure is!! I'm scared and happy, worried and determined at the same time!!

Thank u,
Jessica

I had the roux-en-y when I was 24. I also had mixed feelings from my family and friends, many people thought it was because I "wanted to be skinny like my friends." To be honest that's partially the reason, I was tired of being the "fat friend" but the most important however was my health. Luckily I had no co-morbidities just the excess weight. I have lost 130lbs and I couldn't be happier. Don't let people talk you out of what you want/need to do. It's a long hard road, but the benefits are amazing!
