I think my nerves are starting to get the best of me. I'm hoping my liver shrinks so I wont wake up from an open procedure. I had surgery when I was like 3 but of course I don't remember any of it. Any advice on how to relax a bit?

I found that making a mental list of the pros and cons helped me to logically reason out that surgery was my best option. I also really liked looking through before and after pictures on the home page, to remind me of what I was gaining (a healthier, slimmer, more confident life), not losing (my favourite foods). I also found that the biggest help for me was talking to my surgeons office. I had to be on a three week shake program leading up to surgery and I got really nervous about one week to go. I called my surgeons office and told them straight up "I'm getting really scared". They helped calm me down and re-answered some of my questions that were still nagging at me. I asked about the death rates for the clinic, for my surgeon and what the cir****tances were and that helped to settle my nerves.

On that note, I hope you have an absolutely boring, uneventful, textbook surgery! Best of luck!
