Skin Problems

This is probably really gross but did any of you ladies have problems with boils when you were heavy? For the last year I have been getting these nasty boils every so often and they leave the WORST purple-brown scars. They always happen under my arms, in the rolls on my back, and between my thighs. Does anyone have any insight and do the scars eventually fade? I hate these and what they've done to my normally good, healthy skin.

Yes, yes and YES! I had these all the time, especially between my thighs, around my pantie line. I would get them more when I'd work out and sweat a lot (and yes, I did shower! lol).

The scars I have left from some of the real big ones are purple-ish and seem to be like craters on the skin now. It's not attractive at all. I have noticed that since I've lost weight that I don't get them anymore (knock on wood) AND that my old scars seem to shrink a little (and oddly enough, move location as the fat melts away and the skin moves).

I don't think they will ever disappear completely....booo, but they look a little better. Sorry I couldn't deliever you good news, but hopefully it helps you out a litttle.

I know exactly what you are talking about. When I lose weight, they usually go away. But yes I do have the same problem on occasion. I have it really bad under my armpits towards my back and between my thighs too. I've had it since I started gaining weight as a child. I have noticed though whenever I lose weight, they go away. But I haven't ever seen the scarring go away. Sorry  I wish I knew myself. I will have to see after I lose weight after surgery if the scars will shrink and go away. I wish I could give advice, but I seriously have scars everywhere from these. I've just learn to deal with them.  The only other thing I can think of is scar cream. Sorry again! Hope someone else can give you some good advice. But I feel your pain with that.

grr that stinks! well thanks ladies for letting me know that I am not alone. a friend of mine suggested a few laser treatments after I reach my goal weight to permanently get rid of the scars. we'll see...what do you ladies think? worth it or not?

It's definitely something I've thought about. I'm lucky in a way that mine are hidden, and the only way they will be seen is if I'm stripping off for anyone, which doesn't happen often!! lol
But I still know they are there. I think I'll wait until I reach GW and decide then. I'm already going to have plastics done to help fix my girlies, they just are not lifting on their own, so I'm always open to other possible procedures to fix other problematic areas.
I think that if it bothers you enough, then sure, why not!

Yes! I get them too. Mostly between my thighs. I actually brought this up to my gyno when I went in about 6 months ago and her advice was to use an exfoliator on them. I know this is weird but i gently scrub with St. Ive's Apricot Scrub and they go away! I haven't had any new ones either. :) As far as the scars that I do not know...
