4 months out -- need female advice and questions answered
Ok, so Sleeve surgery 4 months ago. Down 59 lbs. Yay.
That being said, I have been feeling all over weird and am wondering if it's a female thing or what. Just needing some advice.
Went to the doc because I was tired, nauseous, moody, etc. Late cycle so my husband thought I was pregnant, I never thought so of course, anyway, cycle finally came and went. Was the weirdest cycle I've had to date. Started back on Acid reducer medicine that my nutritionist stupidly told me to get off of. Been feeling a LOT better as far as the nauseousness goes, they did bloodwork and testing to rule out ulcer and such. It wasn't that.
Just in the past week though, I am so tired I don't know how to function, I can't seem to get myself out of bed on time, and my husband keeps telling me I'm moody. I know I am too, it's like I'm super happy, then crying, then depressed. I told him I felt fat again.
I know horomones are stored in your excess fat cells and it only makes sense that I would be a little hormonal especially after losing almost 60 lbs. Just wondering if I am alone in this though, I don't want to call my doctors anymore. I think they are sick of me, because everytime something happens I have to call all 3 of them it seems because they all want to see what everyone else thinks it seems.
I'm just a bit confused as to why I'm so tired and moody. I have been feeling great up until these last 3 weeks I think. No problems. Oh and I have done my B12 shot already too for the month so it's not that. As well as my iron levels--those were bad but am taking 2 a day now instead of one and the color came back in my face and I'm no longer freezing all the time.
Sorry for the info overload, just trying to figure this out.

I totally understand. The first month and a half after surgery, I felt fine. But lately I get into these mood swings/" funks" that I just can't shake. I am making great progress with my sleeve but just can't get happy about it. These moods also make it really hard to go to sleep; and I'm oh so tired...I'm hoping that as I get further out these feelings will subside (as I hit goal and am burning less fat/releasing less steroid hormones). One day at a time.
i still getting these hormonal funks almost 10 months later. i didn't do much research on the sleeve, so i'm not sure but is malabsorption a part of it? I was having crazy cycles and was super moody so when i went to the gyno this year i told her about it and she had me switch to the ring instead of the pill because of the malabsorption and that made a big difference. (if you're even on the pill)
go to the hospital and have your blood labs done to check your protein and vitamin levels. you could be low on anything from B12 to potassium to your protein... you might also not be getting enough calories in or enough water. when i crash dieted a few years ago, i didn't take in enough calories to get my period. my body basically shut down that area to concentrate on making my more vital organs function correctly... and of course, missing my period for 4 months in a row really messed up my hormones and made me feel like utter crap.
soo go get those labs done girl!

I completely understand the tiredness.. it felt as if going to the grocery store was like running a marthon for me.... and ~4 months post op it was probably the worst it ever was. What can you do? Not much. Everyone on here will tell you to talk to your doc (which it sounds like you have)..but they can run some tests, and basically tell you what you already know. Your body isn't used to having this few calories running through it. Your body is adjusting.
My tiredness got so bad that I started having dizziness spells every time I stood up. I still have those, but to a lesser degree. (14 months post op)
I say ride it out. Do what you have to do on a daily basis and don't push your body (no gym, etc). Drink coffee throughout the day but make sure you get to bed at a decent hour. Take naps if your schedule/ body allows it. Replacing gym time with laying on the couch time.. it may be too early to physically exert yourself to that degree.
As for being moody... can't help ya there lol

I am 2 years out and Ive had this problem to. I do know it was the worst while I was pregnant. Your body is going through alot of changes. Its readjusting from surgery and trying to work things out. This may mean your cycle gets wanky. Mine did get regular when I started loosing weight. If u have takin a pregnancy test and are 100% not which it can happen. Then you may just have to ride through this emotional journey as it is all about finding yourself and I hope your husband is ready for the ride it can be a bumpy one. Also if taking the pill even though I do belive the sleave is not a malasurbtion surgery look into other birth controll for the hormonal balance. It will get better I promise good luck to u.
