why would you go through what you went through, only to ruin it? soda will blow up your stomach, and then deflate like a balloon and therefore increase the size of the stomach.

i was the BIGGEST soda drinker i ever knew (2 2 liter bottles a day). but that is the one thing i am not taking the chance with!

good luck!

I was never an avid soda drinker, only a sprite on occasion. I know that the carbonation can cause foamies and expand your pouch. That being said, if its still something you feel the need to do, my aunt started drinking it when released to a full diet (in her case 6 weeks). Keep in mind, what works for some doesn't work for others.

Contrary to popular belief, drinking soda will NOT stretch your stomach.
It DOES however, cause most Post ops to get very gasy and sometimes cause upset pouches.

I would definitely wait on the soda. It's not a wise choice when it comes to your fluid intake. And if I'm not wrong, I don't think it counts towards your fluid intake for the day.

I drink an 8 oz can of soda from time to time. It makes me burp like crazy, but if I sip it and take my time and enjoy it, it's fine. but I waited till about 6 months out to try it.

People suggest NOT ever having soda again after surgery because it makes people snack, and causes unhealthy habbits generally. But one every now and then is fine. I would just suggest not doing it too much.
Ya gotta live a little, right?!

It's not really about stretching your pouch. It is very difficult to stretch your pouch in general - most of the stretching actually occurs at the stoma (so if you stretch that food dumps out of your stomach into your intestines faster than it should).

The real problem is most sodas are highly acidic and bind with calcium in the GI tract. This hinders calcium absorption causing bone and muscle loss. This leads to reduced metabolism which makes it much more difficult to lose weight.

I'd avoid it if you can.
