Recovery (plus pictures)
I had my RNY this afternoon, and it ended at around 5:30pm EST. It was a laparoscopic, robotic surgery--I'm mostly just bored in the hospital so I thought I'd post on here.
The process has been a little hellish but not too bad. I was in the pre-op holding room for FOUR hours (ugh!). But when I was finally taken back to the OR, I didn't remember a thing. I have two IVs in my arms; only one is hooked up to anything. Right now, I have a Dilaudid PCA, antibiotics, and a few nausea and antacid meds. The Dilaudid is making me so goofy. I'm currently eating only ice chips, and I get to try my hand at some jello/broth/popsicles tomorrow. I think I might also get to go home tomorrow, which would be nice to be in the comfort of Netflix Instan****ch.
I keep getting more and more angry at the TV for showing me fast food and candy commercials. STOP TAUNTING ME, I HAVEN'T EATEN IN OVER 48 HOURS!
Anyway, in all seriousness....I have to say that my biggest goal throughout this process is to travel and explore the outdoors. I want to be able to hike crazy mountains and walk/ride a bike to places instead of driving. I'm so excited to be getting my life on track. I've always been big, but I've always had an adventurous spirit. Now, with this tool, I will be able do the things I've always wanted to do with ease.
Thanks for reading. Any new updates in your journeys? What are/were your biggest goals after having WLS?
Here are some pictures of my life so far...
I am in my hospital room--clearly enthralled.
At a REALLY tall Mayan ruin in Belize. i can't wait to do these things without dying half-way up.

Being goofy at the Red Fort in India.
The Great Wall of China. I would love to go back so I can hike more of it instead of sitting at the bottom of this one part of it. Goals!
Way to go for being up and feeling good enough to post! I had my RNY on 3/17/2011 and there's no way I was able to get on a computer during my hospital stay. I think they pumped me full of dilaudid so much... I don't even remember 1/2 of my visitors! Congrats on your surgery and hope you have success as you head home!! Remember to walk and drink fluids!

Oh my goodness. I think I was so delirious post-surgery that I didn't even think about pain.
The second day was awful. I just spent the whole day moaning and complaining about gas pains. Walking helped, and I also used Gas-X dissolving strips. Really the only thing that's making any of the pain associated with this is time. I have a prescription for .2mg of Dilaudid, but it doesn't seem to be helping much. I didn't think I was going to be able to make it on Tuesday though, hahah.
I've also been trying to drink these protein shots as much as possible. The ones I have are 26g of protein per 2.9oz vial. I think these are starting to give me a little more energy and healing.
The day before surgery I weighed 262.2 lbs. I weighed myself this morning and I weigh 247.1 lbs. 15 pounds in four days? Is this normal? It scared me a little.
Thanks so much for all your support. Makes it all seem much easier.

Sorry I haven't posted in so long!
I'm a month and one day out now. Everything has been smooth sailing, it seems (knock on wood!). I'm pretty sure I don't have dumping syndrome, which could be a horrible thing...but I don't have sugar cravings like I used to. I mostly tried something sugary to see if I could tolerate it. Didn't affect me.
I did a lot of traveling after the first two weeks. I went to Florida and Chicago. I'm surprised it went so well; I was worried about how awful it would be to travel and try to eat healthy at the same time. It was no easy feat but I'm glad to be on solid ground in Tennessee again.
I've lost a total of 30 pounds so far. I stalled for the last week and a half, which worried me. But I've lost 30 freakin' pounds! Surprisingly, my menstruation stayed regular, and I'm just now getting over it. My mom said that she'd stall during her periods and then lose really fast afterward. I'm hoping I get the same results.
I don't have any pictures of myself uploaded to this computer right now. I do have pictures but they're in an awful, complicated format that takes a million years to edit/convert.
Anyone else stall around this time too? It's a little worrisome so any advice or experience would be helpful!
